thrift store shaving mug

I've tried several shaving mugs and bowls and have not really liked any of them.

I found a teacup in a thrift store for 49 cents made by Gibson it's made to look antique in it's design, with a pedestal base and a rounded cup interior which lets my brush move smoothly to create a ferocious lather. The cup size and the handle make it quite stable in my hand when whipping up the lather, and it's microwave safe so I can nuke my shaving waterin it, which I transfer to a finger bowl to wet my brush and the cup stays warm for my lather. Also the antique look of the cup compliments my razor and brush making it a nice looking set.

I got my "shave mug" from a thrift store, too.

It's a big blue speckled Marlborough mug that is big enough to accomodate a large puck of Classic Shaving citrus spice.

Being just a buck or two you can always change or acquire more suitable mugs without draining money from all the other ADs!

Pay full price for NOTHING. By the way, I have some Royall aftershaves that fell off a truck......

congrats on your find... Cheap aint a bad thing. I like a couple mugs I found at walmart for $1 for soap holders....

Find what you like and stick with it.

Got an old plain white milk glass shaving mug for $1 about a year ago at my local Sal. Army. Only mug I own. I had to clean off decades worth of old yellowing soap but it's completely beautiful and looks great/basically new now. I'm not into logos or brands AT ALL so it works for me and it doesn't look dated. Same mug as mine:

Great find. Kind of makes your day when you run into something like this. I like the anchor-hocking sugar bowls from Wally World too.

It is so good when you score, as long as the mug has the right geometry (wide and short walls) it should work great. Enjoy your mug!!!

Al raz.
