Thrift stores can be a gold mine. Most of the ones near me are usually played out though, and all that is left are the tailings.

But you have to keep searching. I've found some cool stuff over the years.

I bought a pair of chefs pants from a thrift store at 14 because I thought they looked cool, so many people asked me if I was a chef that I actually became a chef for 8 years haha.

Not bad. I found a great overcoat for $20. Brand new, fit well but thought it was a little high, but still bought it. Got home and showed it to the Mrs. and she looked at the name. Turned it to be a $350 coat from a thrift store.

Apparel oft proclaims the man!

Keep sifting at the thrift store, and talk to people you run into there about other shops. I've gotten some amazing deals on good quality clothes in the shops around here. The other day I got two pair of Ralph Lauren purple label trousers for $3.50 a pair (like new condition) and a very nice pair of Allen Edmond brogues for $30. You never know what you'll find and the stock changes regularly so go back from time to time to see what's come in since you were there last...

I am planning to get back into the thrift shop game... Sunday I should have a story of great success!

Good luck! I think Monday may become me thrifting day of the week, clothing is 1/2 off at my local Goodwill on Mondays.

Ok I'll play along, this forum is becoming a bad influence on me :biggrin1:
I stopped at the local Salvation Army on Friday and scored the following Cole Haan cap toes and nice wool Gap coat that looks to have been hardy if ever worn.
The shoes are broken in but still in excellent shape and very comfortable. So far I have just given them a wipe down with some leather wipes and put on new laces. I'm waiting on a delivery of Venetian leather cream to condition them and then give them a polish. They look like shell cordovan to me, any thoughts?
Both pieces cost me just over $25 :thumbup1:

At 6'5" and built like an NFL lineman, I can never find anything at a thrift store that can fit me. I have been looking for old razors and other items, but had no luck.

I used to frequent the thrift store when living in MI. Picked up a cashmere Armani sweater for $3 and 2 RL Purple label dress shirts for $1.50 each. It was a great day!
