Came home to find three boxes had arrived:
1. From Rudy Vey, a large brush in the style of the Simpson's tulip, in Grade A silver tip. As usual, Vey produces an outstanding quality product; the handle is perfectly turned, and to my woodworker's eye, flawless. The badger knot is a beaut, perfectly set to be tall enough to be yielding, but set in deeply enough to have backbone. Rudy is a real craftsman, please consider him for your next brush purchase! Sponsor the independent craftsman!
Very affordable and custom work! I'll post pix soon.
2. From Mama Bear, a collection of 20 shaving soap samples, which means my next 20 shaves will be done to a different fragrance each morning. Toasted coconut, Bulgarian tobacco, cocao, man......an overwhelming olfactory assault. And a bottle of Bay Rum room spray, which just got tried out in the shave den. Sue does an amazing job of blending essential oils to make outstanding shaving soaps. The glycerin soaps produce excellent lather, the scents--so far aromatic pipe tobacco is the best I've ever smelled, hands down--are often amazing and the variety and prices are enough to lead me to buy more soaps than I could ever use in a lifetime. But I'll die trying. Sue is also an independent, please consider supporting her in your travels. Outstanding customer service too.
3. From Fendrihan, a bottle of Trumper's Extract of Limes Skin Food, and a bottle of Harris Aftershave Milk (rose). Limes on the back of the left hand, and Harris on the back of the right. So far, the scent of limes is gone, but the back of the left hand feels glycerin-y, if this can be an adjective. The skin on the back of the right hand is softer, and the rose smell is there, not overpowering, but pleasantly present.
So, quite a bit of kit for the shaving arsenal.
My cup runneth over, looking very forward to my next shave. Hmmmm. Bulgarian Tobacco shave soap, with Harris Aftershave Milk....the pairing of the tobacco and rose should be an interesting start.
I'll let you know,
Best,
Chris
