Thoughts on This Set of Stones

I am thinking about getting a set of wetstones to sharpen knives, tools (if I ever get any). I don't know much about sharpening, but I came across this set:

My knives are nothing special...no Japanese knives here, but I do love the Calphon knives I currently have.

Is it worth the expense / learning curve, or should I just send them to Dave?

For my kitchen knives I only used a 1000x water stone for a very long time. Cost about $30 . . .

The set is good value in my opinion . . . I'll go 4000x with my kitchen knives but really I don't need 8000x. But who knows.

I think that is the Norton set-I have no idea if that is a good price.
