What's new

this is not a FatBoy

A Gillette design that was not a copy of the non-Gillette razors made in Europe at this time -- 1960. Apparently the only year these bottom dialers were made -- another F4 here. And we can refer to these as the real 195 Gillette razor. Very solid and well made. Better feeling in the hand than the more common FatBoy. But this beauty is unfortunately a rarely seen and excellent set that I finally was able to acquire. From another esteemed member of this forum.

Another piece of history and example of Gillette's engineering expertise.

Hmmm. That's some fine shaving engineering.
It could be argued that the later models were more refined (as in simplified) but just look at that dial, out in the open where it can be appreciated. Class.

Nice razor . In reality the patents were filed in 1956 and issued in 1960, more than 4 years later. the inventors Meyer J Shnitzler and Michael Douglas Benedict Jr ( not the actor) only madesmall number of prototypes . They extremely valuable.

Thanks Alex. Good information to fill out the story. And even these limited production models are quite valued and pretty valuable.
