What's new

This is my job.. but my dream job is...

I work in the internet industry and as an internet marketing manager - the industry, I can't say.

Its a lot of stress, pressure, and sometimes I go *blahhh*

My dream job is.. going back to uni, doing a history degree and becoming an archaeologist - I don't mind if I am doing field work or just lecturing. I loves history.

Archaeology would be cool, depending on you area of speciality. I have a friend who is an archaeologist, and she spends most of her fieldwork time in the desert digging around for aboriginal stone tools. She finds it interesting, but I could think of better uses of my time.

I think I would prefer the be a palaeontologist specialising in dinosaurs. I loves me the dinosaurs.

I would also love to be able to be a full time artist, providing I was independently wealthy enough to not care if the work sold or not.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep my day job as a fitter for Victoria Secrets.

Only when the boss is on lunch.

Seriously, if I was a fitter at VS, do you think I would have time to talk to you guys??
My hands would be full, taking care of that job. :001_tongu

Electrician. But I always wanted to be a gunsmith. And not just repair work either though that is the bread and butter. I also wanted to put together custom arms. Not necessarily the super fancy custom jobs with stock work that takes months. Those chaps are artists. I am talking super rugged, reliable rifles with laminate or synthetic stocks and wonder coatings on the metals for durability. Oh sure, fancy customs could have come later but quality arms to be used regularly would have been great.

Cheers, Todd

I'd like to be a Race Car driver when I grow up.
Right now I fix computers.
Formula 1 or Rally.

I try to pretend when I'm in my car but it's a Nissan Versa

Remember when you were a child, riding your bike with your ‘peeps’, chasing fire trucks and ambulances (lights and sirens blazing), around town? Or just hanging out at the fire station (and you were on first name basis with most of the crew), eye’s like 'saucers', when they let you sit in the rigs (my favorite spot was in the 'tiller’s position at the back end of the 'hook & ladder' truck)? That was me and my BFF's.

Still to this day, I’m still fascinated with fire stations and first responder rigs (and their equipment like the 'jaws of life', pumper gauges and what every fireman wears [boots, pants coat,ect..], on runs), and I always take my grandkids (with their eye’s like 'saucers'), to our local fire stations to learn and explore. OK..I sometimes go myself when I'm out 'walking my cigar', but kids (and adults), the world over love how the station parks the rigs half way out of the station [like shark snouts]…hence displaying to the public; "Hey…come on in and have a 'looky-see' because we’re ready for the next emergency".

During one visit not long ago, my grandson and I learned that 'modern' stations (I’ve heard and seen [on-line], many two-story firehouses are turned into private residences), are one story (scratch the traditional chute & fire pole). Why? Because Fire Associations had found that there were too many broken ankles coming down the pole (who would have thought?).

I admit I still turn my head and watch the rigs (and law enforcement), ‘navigate’ and weave ‘in & out’ of traffic; whispering to myself and admonishing other drivers to 'make a hole and make it wide'. Recently, no joke, while sitting in traffic, I clearly heard a Virginia ‘statie’ get on her loudspeaker (besides lights, siren and horn blazing), reminding slow drivers to heed and "Move your vehicle"!!!

Ah…if I could have had it any other way...I would have been a fireman. Maybe in my next life. :001_rolle

I think I actually want your job.

You wouldn't want it right now. I am on a Persian Gulf shuttle run. A couple weeks ago it got up to 125f. That's like 52c or something like that. I haven't seen a high of less than 108 or so. Jebel Ali to Ash Shuwaykh to As Shuaibah and back to Jebel. Can't go ashore in the two Kuwaiti ports. Seldom get opportunity in Jebel. Seen better pay, too. None of that Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum business for me.
