I have a black leather alligator embossed band right now, and I like it, but it's getting kind of ratty. The watch has a black face. I was thinking something like a charcoal gray rubber band might be sharp. What do you guys think? Got a site or a brand you'd recommend?

I had two rubber bands( or maybe plastic) they were cheap and neither made it past 6 months.
A good one will cost as much as leather (or more) and so I've never tried them again.
I read that good ones smell like vanilla and come from Italy I think.
I have a good waterproof leather strap from BOB...It's on E-Bay.
Bob straps are highly recommended and are made in Germany. That's all I know
about straps........Good luck......

What about a NATO strap?
+1. I've got a rubber strap on my seiko diver, and it just doesn't sit right. I'll be swapping it over to a nylon nato strap when i find a vendor.
If you are going to go a rubber strap, look for the best one you can find. I've use rubber on my dive computer and it is a much higher quality than the seiko band

They are nice and you can tell the difference between cheap plastic and real rubber.
It eventually fell apart and I replaced it with a band of lesser quality.
