these hones any good?

I was looking at Lee Valley and they have Sigma Power Select II water stones. I saw they one that is 13000 grit. I was wondering for the straights is these any good as a finisher or of they other stones??

I've got a 10k sigma power (bigger than those judging by the pics and on a wooden base), that cost me ~$140 to ship here from Japan a couple years back. By far my favorite synthetic stone (though I haven't used a ton of synths). Doesn't see much use but definitely was a big improvement over Nortons, Naniwa SS's and several cheaper varieties (King, Masohiro, Taidea, etc).

It is my humble opinion that ANY decent stone will hone up a razor. It just depends on the grit. Some may work faster, cleaner, lap easier, lap harder, swarf more, glaze faster. But I think all should at least get you a shaveable edge

Thanks Hotdog, I will do some looking around at the CNAT. Youa re right the price for a 12,000 grit stone can not be beat. How is the shave though off those stones with paistes afterwards?

For the money, I think you would be better off with a CNAT and a lot cheaper

I checked the CNAT and even though the price is good, customs would worry me. I checked the shipping and to Canada it would have to go through customs and would have to pay the taxes on top off that. I am wondering if it would come to the same in the end or not.
