The Gillette Slide is something I've actually never really felt the need to do (I get non-choppy shaving just going straight down with proper prep and shallow blade angle), but I do need to give it a shot sometime. Since I've used a slant, I guess technically I have used a similar blade action.

Great ad..I love those old ads. I'm putting a few up in the man cave when I get my razor display set up.

Look at those prices. Fifty cents was a lot of money at one time. My grandmother talked about working for a dollar a day - and that was a ten hour day.

Seems that they were some how trying to capture some blade sales, but were not that into the proper advertising (but it was somewhat ingenious)

I did not realize they had made a stainless blade as far back as the thirties. Very interesting!

Thanks for the cool post, Jake. On my face, that slant-type shave with a non-slant razor would especially be appropriate with the New. It's a lot less smooth for me than others.

Anyone here routinely shave that way?
