The Right Pomade for me - advice request

I have medium fine hair and after having shaved my head for decades , I started growing it, however as I have bald/thinning at top of crown rather than have a comb over , the hair on top wants to lie left to right , I want ti comb it back and for it to lie flat and not look bouffant or greasy.

Suggestions on a product, uk based if possible or I can import.

Thanks

Grants's Golden Brand Original Pomade
A water based, thick gel. Applied to dried hair has very little shine but good hold that does not weigh down the hair. Applied to damp hair will provide shine and slighty stiffer hold. Has a light almond scent that doesn't last too long. Found on Amazon UK

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shaping Cream
Another water based performer, a bit heavier than the Grant's and creates a "sleeker" look with less shine if that's your goal. Avoid their tea tree pomade unless you want the slicked back look. Also found on Amazon UK

Gatsby Moving Rubber Wild Shake (the one in the purple tub)
Another water soluble product good for fine hair. From Japan, a paste with a blessedly short lived scent of artificial green apple (if Jolly Rancher hard candies are available in the UK, the apple scent is a dead ringer). Useful to apply this after a base of one the other products mentioned above for areas that need more lift or control. I tend not to use this as a the main product as it is a bit stiffer.

Upper Cut Deluxe Pomade and Featherweight Cream - can't find a UK site listing them but they have a water soluble pomade (lots of shine), good hold but I'll caution the Deluxe Pomade scent has a fairly long lasting coconut scent - but hey, that may be your thing. Uppercut Featherweight cream has a light lemon/lime scent and a lighter, more natural hold. Can't find a UK site but check out the Pomade Shop http://www.pomade-shop.eu/Pomades which I believe is based in Germany and may offer better priced/easier shipping for the UK.

All of these wash out easily and are best applied to barely damp hair.

The American Crew Forming Cream from the American Crew line is the only one that I can recommend. It has a medium hold and medium shine but the scent last longer than others I've mentioned and (to me) falls on the near edge of objectional. Can't put a finger on it, just not my bag. The AC Fiber has good, fairly natural hold but has a nasty orangish scent. Their straight pomade is only useful for a damp looking slicked back style and is torture to get out of the hair. The Grooming cream can make the light from a candle shine like a Klieg light and is another difficult to remove product.

For fine hair I would advise avoiding: Murrays, Royal Crown, Black & White (though I wish I could love this one), High Life, Sweet Georgia Brown and any of the DAX, Lucky 13 or Rumble 59 pomades (Devils' Deluxe, etc). Most petroleum/bees wax mixes will weigh down fine hair and make it look greasy. Of the water based options Layrite, Suavecito, Goldmine and Juniors have all been fails for me - too much product needed, too stiff/slick look (and Junior's has a vanilla based scent that lasts until your next shower).

Man I've spent too much on hair goo.

Good luck.

I would look at the AC Forming Cream or Mitchell Tea Tree cream. Those would give hold without a lot of shine.

Have you tried a mousse? Can help with thin hair.
