What's new

The R41 spoiled me!

While travelling I lost my shaving kit. Muhle R41, and Vulfix travel brush. I picked up a replacement Gilette Platinum Plus, and a synthetic brush at a flea market in Tel Aviv. Wow, what a difference!

The R41 sliced off three week beards with ease, and the vulfix travel would build a good lather for two passes. The Gilette felt like shaving with a twin blade bic disposable, and the brush barely managed to build any lather. It took 4 WTG passes to get down a two week growth.

Oh and I cut myself a LOT! I never got nicks with my R41, but that Gilette just tore up my neck. Even now I've gone back ro my old Merkur 32C which still manages to give me a few weepers.

So now I think I should buy a replacement R41. I've been out of the loop for about 6 months, has a new razor taken the throne, or is the 2011 R41 still king?

The R41 will always be a fine razor, even decades from now it will be just as nice a razor as it is today

I'm a newb, and I have about 10 days of DE hsaving with a Merkur 34c, and 3 days with an R41, and I can't see how I ever switch away from it. It seems like it is really easy to learn to shave with as well. The feedback is so much stronger, and it demands more attention than the merkur. The shaves are also more comfortable and closer. I love mine so far.
