The perfect Marriage - Razor + Blade pairings

Although some have accused me of being promiscuous :ladysman:, like most of us, I'm really looking for that perfect match between my razor and it's perfect blade. Like most of us, I do a double take at a nice looking razor. I'll admit that I sometimes stay up late into the night imagining what the perfect blade for that hot new razor will be.

We all know that there are plenty of attractive razors and hot looking razor blades out there, but every once in awhile there's a match that surely was created in heaven. There are indeed razor/blade matches that are breathtaking.

Most recently I pulled out a Personna Red IP, a blade that I've had for years, but rarely took out any more and paired it with the Cadet TP-26. As soon as I pulled the razor on it's first stroke down my left cheek, the sun came out, baby birds cheeped and from the heavens choirs of Angels sang.

I was instantly reminded of why I liked Personnas for their great combination of smoothness and sharpness. Combined with the more aggressive head of the Cadet, the razor amplified all of the positive qualities of that that blade.

End Result - an easy, indeed wonderful shave.:shaving::shaving:

What razor blade pairings take your breath away with their excellence?

Good for you! It's always satisfying when you score on a good product or combination whether it be with software or hardware. As for me, I can't really say I have one perfect razor & blade pairing. Maybe I never really tried to find out. I use a variety of razors (all vintage Gillette) and mostly Astra SP and Personna Supers. They perform very well in all of my razors. Maybe that's why they are my go to blades.

For today, I had a pretty perfect match up...Early 50's Super Speed +Astra SP = close, comfortable DFS.

My current go to is a 34C with a Feather. It's great. I had a week+ worth of growth and a thick beard as a result, shaved today and was at DFS with 2 passes. Surpriingly, I also find Feather's the most forgiving blade in regard to razor burn on my neck. I did WTG/XTG/touchup on my neck and there's no irritation there at all.

I have had some problems with one of my earlier favourites; Gillette Yellows. It seems like my skin has changed so I can't use them any more:sneaky2: with my Feather AS-D1. The good news is that I have found a new perfect match for the Feather Stainless; Treet Dura sharp. It's a classic carbon blade from Pakistan with a coating. It is at least as sharp as the Yellows and very inexpensive!
Of course my earlier favourite with my vintage Gillettes the Shark Stainless from Egypt still delivers a perfect match for all my 12 Gillettes in the rotation. I will however search for a backup-blade...

I liked the Treet Dura-Sharp very much, I need to revisit that blade.

Lets See, how about:
Gillette Superspeed with Israeli Crystal blades.
one time I had a very pleasant shaving experience with merkur blades, after use no stubble could be found in any direction.
So I would say that it was a BBS shave.
I used the superspeed for that too.

Interesting thread. The razor/blade pairing that comes immediately to mind for consistently producing a great shave is my Hoffritz Slant with a Personna Med Prep blade.

Mergress with Med Prep/Lab or 7:00 Black.
My Slim hates the Med Preps, but works great with Astra SP.
