What's new

The new Doctor Who!

There is only one true Doctor Who: Pertwee.

Now dodging all the incoming flak...

I didn't jump on board until the new series so all I know are Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. I'm still trying to catch up on the series so I've only seen one episode with Matt Smith. As much as I like Tennant, I would like to have seen more of Eccleston. I haven't seen enough of Smith to judge him yet but I've read that fans seem to really like him. As far as the old school Doctors go, I only vaguely remember seeing tiny bits and pieces of Tom Baker. The whole Doctor Who thing didn't even register on my radar until my college-aged daughter introduced me and got me hooked on the show.

I could say him or possibly Tom Baker.

The new Doctors are completely different and in many aspects better - budget, scenery, effects, monstrrs not mad of bubble wrap or inflatable toys. plot lines, story arcs, action, drama and sets to name but a few :)

I didn't start watching Dr. Who until the new series. I haven't seen a whole lot of episodes with Christopher Eccleston but he seems cool and like a good Dr. But David Tennant is my favorite by far. It just seemed like he could encompass all sides of The Dr. very well. I think Matt Smith is a decent Dr. but he's more one dimensional it seems to me.

I am going to wait patiently until tomorrow.... no I'm not, but I'll be doing stuff to keep my mind off it all until then!

So the rumours were correct and it's Peter Capaldi. Could be promising.

His most well known role here in Britain is as Malcolm Tucker, the spin doctor in the BBC comedy series The Thick Of It. Here are some of his moments.

DEFINITELY NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I have the entire show on DVD, an absolutely brilliant actor and a fantastic choice as the new Doctor. Looking forward to seeing him play the role.

I found Dr Who back when Tom Baker was The Doctor. Picked it up again with Christopher Eccleston (the 9th Doctor). I was very happy with his portrayal. After that David Tennant took a bit of getting used to, but I think he may be my favorite of the modern Doctors.

From the get-go I didn't like Matt Smith. I gave him time and tried like hell. Since I was a bit smitten (you know, "TV smitten") with Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, I watched to see if I could get into it. Then Amy became even more annoying than the new Doctor and I stopped watching. I will definitely give the new Doctor a chance, though. This seems like a more natural choice than Smith to me.

Now if we could just get Martha Jones back...

I'm just excited for Matt Smith to be gone. I love the character, but don't like the actor. I really miss the 10th Doctor though.
