The "Cube"

So i was wondering, what's so important about the "cube"? I've seen it in a few videos and have even looked around at a few websites about the brand "hydrolast" cube.
The techneque and everything behind looks okay, but here's what i was wondering...

1) what's so speacial about it? Certain ingrediants?

2) Can the same thing be duplicated with a glycerin based soap? Kepp the same process, just take out "the cube" and add a glycerin based soap?

Any thoughts please let me know.. because i hear rave reviews about how this method and products can really help improve you skin... and isn't that why we are all hear?:thumbup1:

It is simply a soap, that is formulated to work in conjunction with the shaving paste. There are scented "rounds" (a French brand) as an alternative.

And these are the "rounds" also used by some:

Don't assume "soap is soap". There are a number of "pure vegetable soaps" on the market but I've not found any (Not that I've done a lot of searching) that substitute.

You can use glycerin soap to build a "super lather" in a way similar to what is used in Method Shaving but it's really not the same thing. Truth is, to really do it right, you have to use the Hydrolast products.

P.S. I dig the avatar jasonGjordan - Now that's Hope!

The Cube is a soap but the important thing to understand is as basic and pure a soap that you can get - at least that's the concept behind it if not the execution. Method is supposed to be about using pure, natural, organic products that provide a very slick and protective base from which you can method shave (repeated passes from any direction). The Cube is just one element of the process.

Yes beautiful

I just installed your dvd drive brackets. Those work great, but this is something else. I have the powerlogix clear powercube enclosure. Wish I thought of this one first ... might still be lured though. I assume it is just as good for cooling -- or better? and what about ease of removal of the cube -- the powerlogix case requires maybe a bit more effort perhaps than the original cube case, when you want to get back inside the cube.

Is anyone else confused by this post? Lomebagobub, you realize this is a shaving board and we're talking about a cube of soap right?

By way of reference, that post refers to the old Macintosh G4 Cube, for which there are a number of aftermarket accessories -- including a new cube case from Powerlogix -- available. An interesting spambot...
