the Castle Forbes line - any opinions? feeback please!

The after shave balms are very soothing ..need very little..have essential oils. I have theLavender,Lime and Cedar/Sandlewood all very nice. You can get travel size at Classic Shaving for $ 15.00 and they last a long time unless you coat your entire body.

Noticed Gentlemen's Best is offering things from the Castle Forbes lineup, stuff like Keig, 1445, Lonach, etc:

reviews on basenotes are pretty scarce regarding these. anyone have any experience with them? any good? any bad? anything?

..

I would try to try before I bought, but I think CF scents are underrated and under-dicussed. I know Lonach and the Special Edition Neroli. Fairly strong masculine scents.

I got a sample of keig thrown in a BST purchase and liked the scent very much. My impression was that it was pretty modern for an establishment like Castle Forbes. I considered buying it for a minute, then remembered that I don't really wear cologne.

I've tried Keig, Lonach and 1445 and they all last a LONG time. (No exaggeration, the Keig lasts for at least 12-14 hrs on me).
The Keig is a good summer cologne-strong citrus; the Lonach has pineapple scent and isn't for everybody; 1445 is also great;
Try Colonial Drugs in cambridge for samples and mention badger Blade.

I have tried all the Castle Forbes fragrances over time, and only Forbes of Forbes and The Gentleman's Cologne (not sure of the exact name) appeal to me. I bough Forbes of Forbes, but don't wear it very often. The appeal, I think, was that this was something that was rare and had cache for that reason. I am not so sure they are that great.

Yeah, I think when a line like this is out for a while and gets very little press, there's something somewhat awry with it. Not saying these are bad fragrances, just that perhaps they're overpriced for what they are. I'll definitely try them if I can.

I recently sampled the CF line and I really liked how unique the fragrances were. They are not your typical department store rip-off/recycled fragrances that some of the other companies are known to throw around.

My preference and impressions are in this order:

1. Keig. This one is great. My wife absolutely loved it as well, which is a plus. It is a very clean smell with a hint of citrus on a base of light woods. Could be worn all year, tho I might recommend it to be a stronger option for spring or summer.

2. Forbes of Forbes. This one is also fantastic. One of my buddies that sampled the CF line with me ended up ordering a full bottle of this as it was his favorite. A very masculine scent slightly musky. Great for fall/winter.

3. 1445. Very woodsy. You'll feel like you are in the middle of the woods with this one. It's a great one as well, but not quite as good as the other top 2 imo.

4. The Gentlemen's is spicy. It is quite strong at first and rich and spicy on the cool down. Reminds me a touch of Obsession, but not an exact fit. Not really my cup of tea, but definitely rich, elegant, and wearable.

5. Lonach. This one didn't work out to well for me, but I can't really place it. It was a little too "old man". Maybe the patchouli turned me off, not really sure.
