The Best Aftershave for $25

I've got $25 that I want to spend on an AS. I'm planning on ordering from Amazon.com

What should I pick? I was looking at getting Trumper's Lime Skin Food, but I want to see what you guys recommend.

Tough question. What is your primary concern? Healing qualities? Alcohol sting? Scent?

Right off the bat I would suggest Speick Aftershave Lotion. It's $15 or so. Just terrific

I guess I'd like an AS thats healing. I don't mind alcohol sting. Scent wise, as long as it disappears relatively quickly I'm fine.

In that case, I stand by Speick ASL. A lot of healing goodies (such as witch hazel, alum, and other, er things I don't know), not much burn but just enough to let you know it's working, and a great scent that fades very quickly.

What about Musgo Real?

I am currently looking for a new non-walgreens A/S. It's down to:
-Musgo Real Lotion
-Speick Lotion
-Prosaro Lotion
-Maybe the Taylor's Jasmine

Thoughts?

I have the Musgo Real, Speick, and Taylor's Jasmine (No. 74 Original). I really want to try Proraso.

The Musgo Real is very good, although I don't like it as much as I thought I would. The scent, while heavy out of the bottle, doesn't stay with me long (and normally I like long-lasting scents in my aftershaves). It is also a tad bit greasy and leaves a thin film on the skin. Even with all these issues, it's an excellent aftershave and well worth a try.

The Speick is simply stellar. The only thing it lacks that I wish it had is a long-lasting scent.

The Taylor No. 74 Original is one of my favorites. I love this aftershave. The scent is so unique and lingering. And it feels good on the skin as well. I highly recommend this one. If you like floral scents, there is simply no excuse not to have this in your rotation. That said, I know there are some out there who don't care for the aroma.

Speick. Smells great, good for your skin. But the scent goes away. Musgo does not, so you better like it! Musgo stays with you strongly all day. Plus you have to go light on it, or it will be sticky. Neither Proraso or Speick gets sticky.

Proraso is OK, and has menthol. I like it when I want a little menthol kick. But it's mild and the scent is very pleasant, disappearing very quickly. Not as good as Speick in terms of goodies, and doesn't feel as good after (to me anyway). Definitely one to try. After Speick. Or maybe before, so that you aren't spoiled by Speick before trying it :)

is speick better than trumpers? what does ur face feel like after using each product? i no some people who use too much of the skin food complain their face is sticky.

You owe it to yourself to try Saint Charles shaves AS splash. Best value by price point/ effacy.

I'd say get Speick, or go to Saint Charles Shave and get a bottle of the bay rum with a twist and a bottle of Med Citrus. When my bottle of Speick dies, I am going to try those two.

I would add a few dollars and get the L'Occitane CADE splash, which I think it goes for around $29 for the bottle. It is one of my all-time favorites in all respects -- quality, feel, efficacy and scent.

Enjoy!

Heh, good question. These are my two favorites. However, Trumpers will run you much more than $25 - for the splash, anyway

Anyway, Trumpers Lime aftershave splash is my favorite lime aftershave ever, and I have tried a LOT of aftershaves looking for that perfect lime. The smell is fantastic, and so is the burn! I don't know if that's because it's lime (to be fair Pussers lime a/s does the same, it's also a very strong and pure lime), or because it has a lot of alcohol or some combination. But compared to Speick it's like setting your face on fire vs a mild sting. But man, it's worth it. I love that scent.

Skin food is a totally different animal than the Trumpers splash and while the lime skin food smells great, it just doesn't do it for me in terms of feeling clean after a shave.

I couldn't handle that scent. But it does work well, so if you can get a whiff (L'Occitaine has stores, so you can check it out if you are lucky) do look for it.

Someone mentioned Saint Charles Shave. Sue makes a GREAT splash. Mediterranean citrus is a wonderful brew, and her lime aftershave splash is clean and smells great. Don't use a lot or you will end up sticky. But they work beautifully.

Med Citrus is one everyone should have. Awesome scent, just the right amount of menthol. Beautiful stuff.
