The best 10 bucks you ever spent (on shaving)

Once in a while you look back at a purchase and say: "That's the best X bucks I ever spent"

In all your shaving purchases what is that you bought that meets the best 10 bucks criteria?

I'll go first. My Omega Pro 48 shaving brush.

I realize that 10 bucks is a pretty low number, but it's sticking in my mind as we get into the 10 buck gift exchange Christmas thing.

For me, an Arko stick hands down. Still some of the best soap I've ever used. And it always performs the same way, which I find very helpful when evaluating the performance of other shaving gear.

It is also possible to get a vintage Gillette Super Speed or Tech for about $10 if you are patient and don't mind given it a careful cleaning. Both types of razors give a superb shave and are made much better than the few modern types that cost in the $10 range.

I’d have to say: my Omega 10108 boar right at the $10 mark.

Best and worst was a $8 Gillette Red Tip. It was my first vintage razor and it started me down the whole wetshaving rabbit hole!

Pre de Provence olive oil soap. Greatest thing for my skin in that price range. The Omega Pro 48 brush is right behind it, though.

RazoRock Plague Doctor soap from Italian Barber. I've bought soaps for as much as $80 and this one performs the best. Scent is just soapy, but performance is top notch.

I believe my Omega Boar hair was $10 and it's still one of my favorite brushes.

The best $2.50 I ever spent on shaving gear was for my Ever Ready 1914 Little Lather Catcher. Dang thing just works. Sure, it's got its quirks and foibles but I can overlook a lot for that price. I think it's my best Gem-style razor.

Either my Omega 10065 or a hundred Bic Chrome blades (they were $11 but Omega was about $8 so it evens out). Any number of shaving soaps/creams also qualify.

It's a tossup between a Wilkinson Sword Classic razor for $6 and a tube of Palmolive Classic cream for $9 (I know I can probably find the cream for less, but I was already ordering stuff on Amazon so I threw it into the cart).

Found these at an antique shop some years ago. Two Slims, an English Rocket and an English Knack/Slim Twist.

I asked the prices and the lady said they're each $1. Needless to say I splurged and bought them all. Oh, and lunch after at the KFC down the road was six bucks so grand total, my best $10 spent on shaving.

I was watching Yaqi live sale and a Yaqi TFC adjustable razor came up for sale and they where talking about it and so glanced at price on the board and it was like $8 Canadian & I had one already so it will be gifted down the road hopefully. Very nice razor and worth every penny I paid for my 1st one.

Creams: Lea and Proraso wood and spice (might have to look around for it)
Soap: Ach Brito Mogno
Blades: Astra SS and SP

All of them can be found for under $10. I consider them to be some of the best products available. But might have to shop around for the best prices on the Astra SPs and the Proraso wood and spice
