The beginning of the shavepocalypse?

I was at WalMart today to get some stuff for SWMBO. As usual, I added $1.79 to the plan for 10 WS blades as they are my go-to. I have bought blades from them for over a year and have been stockpiling at a rate of 1 pack per visit or about 30 blades a month for the last 3 months. On my last visit (2 weeks ago), the VDH soap, VDH starter kits, and Pinaud stipic pencils were all well stocked but the WS blades were all gone. I was told that the department manager had increased the reorder of blades from 5 per week to 10 per week because the traffic was there and that they should have 10 packs on the shelf in less than 48 hours. SWMBO confirmed a full peg and bought me 20 during a run for kid supplies. I was in again today and Wally World was out! I got the last VDH puck, the VDH starter kits were almost gone, Stipic was nowhere to be seen. I asked the local WM drone when they would have more WS blades and a scan of the SKU turned up an END OF SEASON reading on that little brain gun/machine that they all carry around. I was then told that my local WM was not going to restock this item . According to the drone, WM is resetting the shaving area in about a week and the end of season classification denotes that it will not be part of the reset.

I was also told that there was an outside chance that the item could be in the reset, but only if the packaging was going to change. WS just went with the new scheme about 18 months ago, I can't see it changing this fast.

Is this the beginning? Have the 4 razors of the shavepocalypse been unleashed in my local WM?

I don't use 'em myself but I always check for Wally Wilks as well as anything else they might have. My WM has been out for most of the month. Coincidence?

Even when rebranded Personnas are available locally here (HEMA brand), I buy my blades online (I have over 200 Personna Reds * at home). More convenient and cheaper, even with shipping.

* Since there hardly is any red anymore in the EU packaging of the Personna Platinum Chromes, I wonder if "Personna Reds" is a misnomer for these blades

Oddly, I haven't ever had a problem finding blades locally, its everything else that I have to buy from Amazon.

What Walmart does or does not stock is certainly not a sign of Shavepocalypse. Likewise CVS/Walgreens/RiteAid.

The only thing they stock that I use are Fusion carts for the headshave and Clubman... and I buy neither from WM since the carts are cheaper at Costco/Sams and I get clubman at my corner Walgreens.

When looking at the selection of shave gear at WM, I do more head shaking than anything.

When West Coast Shaving goes back to appt only on Saturday and 10am to 2pm weekdays, THEN I'll start to worry.

Potentially, I see this as a good sign. Hopefully they will stock the Personna Platinum Chrome blades again.

I was at Walmart today and picked up a pack of Wilkinson Sword solely because of this thread. I think they had about 8 packs on the hook. With 400 Astra, Red IP and Merkur blades in my drawer, I don't know if these will ever see use. They will probably wind up in a box with my other Misfit (Shave) Toys.
