The Art of Shaving

Personally think the place is a tad over price, but almost paid their NY location a visit (they have many) but didn't for scheduling reasons. Anyway, being CT I just found out they have a location in the Stamford mall and currently planning to put one in the Danbury and one other location.

In case anyone is interested and lives in CT.

I dislike AoS products and I don't like their sales practices. You can not walk into a AoS store and not be bombarded with sales associates wanting to lay something on you with their ridiculous prices. Having said that I used their products for 7 years, but back then I didn't know any better.

Doctor this is for you, as you're in the LA area.

AOS Creams 45% OFF at Planet Beauty With Groupon LA Area

Here's a deal for the Lovers of AOS Creams and the Haters who complain about the prices!:001_cool:

Today's Groupon for Planet Beauty is $10 for $20. A few of the stores carry the creams and balms.

$22 - $10 = $12 plus tax or 45% off.

I bought a Lemon cream at one last year with this deal. The only store that carries the soaps isn't in this deal.

This is one way you save on AOS:thumbup:

AoS has some decent products such as their shaving soap and aftershave lotion. Their pricing is a tad high for what one gets. In my opinion, the unnecessary markup helps to cover the overhead of the lovely mortar-brick stores, the more than 'helpful' staff, and of course the kickback to P+G who owns Gillette who bought AoS. There are equally good, if not better, products available online from a plethora of other vendors/manufacturers.

The best thing visiting my local AOS store did was to have the salesguy sell me a Progress. The worst thing he did (I'm pretty sure) was not show me exactly how to set the razor's adjustment and I started in at 5 and nearly took my chin off. I've been wet shaving my entire adult life and once used to the machine love it. I do think they're over priced, I am now seeking the shorter 500 model and won't buy it there. Amazon does have good prices, IMO.

just got an email re Free Shipping on online orders of $75 or more for this weekend only:
Enter JULYFS75 at checkout.

Yes. I feel compelled to say the same thing I always say: Their soft goods are great. They perform excellent, and are priced fairly for what you get. I buy their soaps, creams, pre shave oil and ASB. If you buy anything other than that, imho, you are paying too much for the name.

I agree 100%. I stumbled into AoS products and like them enough for many reasons that I'll stay with them. I agree I think some of their creams etc are a tad high....and then I look at similiar sized products ONLINE that are $10 more a tub...so AoS products arent totally out of line.

Being a b&m store, their prices are always going to be a bit higher. I bought the Sea Kelp (which i love) walking in and then grabbed a free tube of the lemon on a deal that Blooomingdale's was having called "trade in your old soap". I believe it was a $14 value which was sweet as it allowed me to toss some canned barbasol on them and stroll out:

Another AOS thread?

Apparently so. The thing I want you guys to realize is as someone that is an avid forum reader (of other forums) unless you spend the better half of your life on the forums you are not going to see some posts posted time and time again. Might want to give that some thought and cut the posters some slack for if you really follow the traffic hear which I noticed but did not put time in, threads get buried fast. Now a person can spend time doing and searches and going through pages and see if they get lucky, but I can tell you with someone that has a career in IT that does not always work.

Also, I wasn't really asking about the Art of Shaving, I was just sharing some info that I thought people would appreciate; sorry if it bothered you so much. You will notice in my OP that I mentioned they are expensive but I love going to knife and shaving stores. I enjoy it more when it's face to face and when you get caught in the moment you might buy something. So you paid a tad extra for this and that; is it really going to break the bank?

Geez.

Don't let any comments bother you. The heads up is appreciated. The real problem isn't an AOS thread, its everybody piling on to throw in their 2 cents which usually has nothing to do with the actual topic or question at hand

I agree they seem highly priced. Their products are pretty good imho. Here in San Diego there really isn't anywhere else(that I have found) that sells wet shaving products. I did the math and with S&H costs they are very competitive for what I have access to. I am thinking of ordering the suavicito line which is hella cheap and see if that could save me some dough.

My comment regarding "another AOS thread" was not meant to personally attack you. As GreekGuy said, please don't let any comments bother you. As simple "Google" search of AOS and Badger and Blade will pull up a dozen threads similar to this one, and similar to your experience. Since you shared your opinion in an open forum, that opens the door for me to share mine. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. If me adding my $.02 offended you, I aplogize.

Now, let's look at the light hearted side of this thread and give "Illadelphia" his props because this, Sir, was hilarious!
