Once again, my invitation is lost in the mail.

My T-day? I'll have to jimmy the lock on the back door of Tres Hermanos and whip up a taco.

I head to my parent's house to T-Day.

I make roasted Brussel sprouts with pomegranate molasses and toasted hazelnuts. I also make pumpkin soup with some chipotle puree and cinnamon creme fraiche.

However, I would be happy with nothing but a pint of gravy.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
My wife makes the stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. I just do the turkey.

I'm tasked with three dishes this year:

Vegan shepherd's pie heavy on the red wine
Lacinato kale and shredded Brussels sprout salad with toasted almonds
Simple apple tart for dessert

But not to worry - the turkey, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce will all be there as well...

Taking a break for a few minutes from Thanksgiving Cookfest 2012. I have 12 turkeys in my 3 smokers that have been cooking for almost an hour. I have just got done with the first round of fried turkeys. I have 4 turkey fryers that I will fry up almost 30 turkeys tonight. I do this almost every year for select family friends a few co-workers and some people i go to Church with. I tell everyone I will fry or smoke the turkey if they supply the turkey and it has to be thawed when they bring them to me either yesterday or today. My charge is minimal but the fun my brother and I have while cooking tonight is priceless. We are guessing the cops will come by about 3am to pass the time because in our sleepy town my brother and I will be the only excitement they will have tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm up early, smoking my butterball on a 22.5 Weber with the Smokenator 1000 insert, injected with butter, white wine, apple juice and honey, will spritz with apple juice as she cooks. Cherry and pecan chips for smoke. SWMBO doing the rest.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! While the parents have this holiday for most of the cooking (we take Christmas), we're still making our Mashed Potato casserole, Cranberry sauce, and apple pie. Stone brewing is taking care of the beverage selection (picked up a couple of growlers yesterday), and we're just about good to go for this holiday.

Just put a 20 lb bird in the egg. It's been brining for about 36 hours. Added one good size piece of apple wood just to add a little smoke. Don't want it to dominate as some of our guests are a little hung up about a "traditional" bird. Last time I brined one I was worried that the drippings would be too salty to use for gravy. How wrong I was! Best gravy ever. The secret to keeping it from boiling off is to use some kind of ceramic spacer between the pan and whatever heat shield you use. It allows airflow under the pan, therefore leaving the juices.

We usually make traditional dishes, but decided to switch things up a bit this year.

Deep fried turkey
Southern cornbread stuffing
Green beens with goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, and shallots
Mashed potatoes with brown onions and Gorgonzola
Yellow squash casserole
Sweet potatoes with brown sugar and butter
Homemade cranberry sauce

Pumpkin cheesecake
Chocolate pecan pie
Apple pie

Roasting a 22 lb monster bird, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish, rolls, dressing, etc. Pretty typical, but this is the biggest bird I've ever had.

Those both sound incredible - can you share the recipes?

Man those all look good, for my Thanksgiving (Up in Canada last month) I made Beef Wellington which was absolutely amazing and I think I might make it again for christmas to compete with my cousin's first turkey in her first house... because we have always been competitive like that.

A very Trad Thanksgiving here in Indianapolis.... The Southern Cornbread Stuffing was a hit as well as the Port Wine Cranberry Sauce
