What's new

Thai Crystal.I am sold!

Been using for 2 months now. My wife about a wife. Neither of us smell at all...nothing. Im a big boat shoe guy, thinking about using on my feet too! It doesnt stop sweat but no scent at all...nothing. We weren't really stinky but you know...it happens...no more! My wife works out a lot and it holds up. I am in the sun a minimum 3 hours a day as a water polo coach, constantly standing and walking around. Thank you Badger and Blade for this too!

FYI, it's made of potassium alum, and also does a great job as an aftershave rub to heal any irritations or weepers, sooth, tighten the skin. Check it out. I'd use it on my face prior to my armpits and feet, though....

It works for me in the pits. I recently tried Mennen Speedstick again and I broke out in a rash so it looks like I'm going back to using my Alum bar as a deodorant. Shaving my pits also helps with the sweating and odor issue.

Good product for sure. Been using the Thai and Crystal brands for over a year-and-a-half with great results. Hard to believe that this type of deodorant has been around forever. +1 on shaving the pits, that makes all the difference in providing comfort while eliminating odor.

I have the ammounium alum deodorant. Cost about a dollar and with daily use it should outlive me.

I tend to have a strong odor without it and it keeps me covered all day. Which is good news for my customers because my underarm comes pretty close to their face when I'm shaving.

are you SURE the crystal is potassium alum? because the ingredients listed on the container says it contains ammonium alum? the Thai crystal left my armpits red, sore, and itchy. RazoRock "spray," which definitely is potassium alum based, is irritation-free, so far!

I just started using this stuff too and love it! I still find it hard to believe that I cant smell any BO when I'm sweating. I was tired of pit stains on my shirts.
jrtaster; I think I recall seeing an old post somewhere on the forum that an individual contacted the company that produces the Thai crystal and confirmed it is potassium alum. I've used it on my face and haven't noticed any unusual burning sensations.

Glad to hear you haven't experienced any irritation from the Crystal; I wish my experience was the same.
It's certainly possible that some forms of the product contain potassium alum, but, according to the product label, the Crystal stick version definitely contains ammonium alum. Though I no longer can use it as a deodorant, it works just fine as an after shave rub.

I have a Thai Crystal and the label says nothing about ammonium alum. I've used it as both an aftershave face rub, and as an underarm deodorant, and have experienced no difference in feel or performance from my Osma alum block, which is a leading after-shave alum block said to contain potassium alum. Ammonium alum is said to be much "stingier".

PLEASE do share a photo of the Thai Crystal deodorant label which indicates it contains ammonium alum.

These sites assert that Thai Crystal contains potassium alum:

can't link photos, but I will quote directly from the product in my hand: front label; "Crystal Body Deodorant Stick. Hypoallergenic, Fragrance & Paraben Free"

Back... (condensed).. "endorsed by Cancer Treatment Centers"
."Ingredients. Natural Mineral Salts (Ammonium Alum) "
further down on back label " A Product of Thailand"
I think my product, marked "Product of Thailand", is not the one referenced in the last post...my error, for which I apologize.
But my error might easily be repeated by others looking for THE "Thai crystal deo" and getting "A" crystal deodorant from Thailand.
Mine was purchased at CVS.

I do believe we are talking about different stones. The one I (and I'm assuming the OP) referenced is the "Amazing! Thai Crystal" from Deodorant Stones, LLC.

yes, mea culpa on confusing two totally different products.
Since the REAL Thai Crystal contains potassium alum, when my RazoRock aloe spray is finished, I will probably end up trying
the original Thai product. There is not doubt the look-alike ammonium alum version did irritate my underarms, tho' it seems to
work fine as an aftershave rub to deal with minor nicks/weepers.
Thanks to all for correcting my erroneous allegations!

denada.
I got it at SwansonVitamins. Great prices, very dependable. Apparently there are lookalikes, claiming, perhaps truthfully, to be from Thailand. Get the right stuff.
