Tell me about Tom Ford Italian Cypress...

Right now my main Cologne is John Varvatos, Artisan. I love it, but I am looking for something different. Italian Cypress has caught my eye. What do you gents who have tried it...think about it?

I use John Varvatos a decent amount as well. I was just at Neiman Marcus in LV and sampled all of the Tom Ford private label stuff and walked away with Tobacco Vanille and Japon Noir. I'd give Tobacco Vanille a look at you might like it.

I haven't sampled Artisan but I do have and love Varvatos and Varvatos Vintage; i prefer the latter.

Vintage is one of my favorite scents. However, Italian Cypress is NOT like any of these. Vintage is a fruity, especially cherry sweet sscent. Tom Ford IC is the exact opposite. A spicebomb. When I first smelled this, the first thing that came to my mind is my best friend's dad who is in his mid 50's and a shaved head.

I'm definately all for the concept of blindbuys, but I would definately recommend sampling this first but if this is not an option by ANY means, then go ahead and bite the bullet. It should be fairly easy to resell on these boards since you can't get any more gentlemanly of a scent. BTW This scent tends to have a hate it or love it relationship.

Also on a sidenote, almost every cologne made by Tom Ford is good.

- is an INCREDIBLE scent. Too pricey for me, but I was able to dab on a sample last fall in Seattle, and it was incredible - great staying power, and the scent went through a very nice progression as the day wore on.

Italian Cypress is one of the better TF private blend offerings IMO. It has alright longevity but after a while it will just stay close to the skin. It's supposed to be a throwback to some of the scents of the 70/80s, it just doesn't have as much sillage. I didn't like it enough to buy, I like some of his other offerings better (Tobacco Vanille and Tuscan Leather)

I will be going Nordstrom to try out the collection and see which one I like the best. Just out of the list, the one that caught my eye was the Italian Cypress. Tabacco Vanille? I'll be asking for that one. Anything with vanilla should be very nice

Just a heads up but most Nordies don't stock Private blend stuff, Theirs a few around but I've never seen them. Let me know if you find it and at which store :). Also I highly recommend trying the Tobacco Vanille on the skin, it just dries down it the best way.

Yes, I had to go to a Neiman Marcus. I came out with Italian Cypress....man that's a great smell. Plus it got the approval of the girlfriend. Now that Tabacco Vanille, very warm and a great sent. I had to get it too because I just kept smelling my arm over..and over. Thanks for the heads up
