Teck by Molinard v/s Mazzolari Lui.

Trying to understand out of these two which one has the maximum votes of a more popular scent ? In terms of Statement Made, Projection, Longevity ? Any of these can they be called Unique ? in terms of being a very rarely come across scent ? And which one is a Powerhouse a stronger scent ?

Teck is not by Mazzolari...It is by a House called Molinard !!

I didn't quite understand what were u trying to say here...

I think that was just a typo, and Chris was saying he hasn't tried Teck, but Mazzolari Lui is amazing, like most Mazzolari scents.

I also haven't tried Teck, but from the description on the Molinard website (shown below), my guess would be that Teck isn't nearly as unique, and may not stand out as impressively as Mazzolari Lui. Of course, I could be wrong! And I do think Molinard Patchouli and Habanita are excellent frags.

"Teck de Molinard is a symbol of strength, an invitation to an adventure. The base of benjamin, a sweet intensive balmy smell, sandal-wood, strong ambergris and patchouli. Jasmine, the warmly bloomy fragrance with a tea like undertone, combined in the heart-note with lavendel, the sweetly herbaceous, bloomy fragrance. Lemon, orange and bergamont, spiced with a hint of basil, deliver the freshness in the top-note. This combination of fresh, sweet and strong notes develop this unique, masculine fragrance."

yes, thank you, that is exactly what I meant, that typo really screwed it up, didn't it?
Haven't tried Teck. I have tried several Mazzolari and I'm very impressed by them all, including Lui.
However, that notes list for Teck looks fantastic, worth a try... I like Molinard's Vetiver, too.

Have only tried Lui. If there's more of a powerhouse out there, I'd be afraid of it to be perfectly honest.

Ok, so if I understand you correctly you are saying, there isn't anything out there which is as much of a powerhouse, as Lui is ? Is that what you are saying ?

I just bumped into one other thread here started by "professorchaos" where he is saying he found Mazzolari-Lui unpleasant and obnoxious, surprising he was the one who pointed out the name of Lui  when I was asking people here tell me the name of the most strongest perfume that they have ever come across. So he personally feels Lui smell to be obnoxious but he has suggested it to me :001_unsur Hmmmm.... How's that for a suggestion :biggrin1:

is Lui like YSL Kouros where a lot of people have compared it to the stink of urine and what not but is the most lingering perfume that I have come across so far and I Say is nowhere a stink of urine, far from being called unpleasant, I don't know how people get these kinda weird thoughts!

Are you talking about this thread, where Professorchaos says he wouldn't call Mazzolari Lui a "pretty" scent, and might not even call it "pleasant", as he describes trying a number of samples before buying a bottle?

Mazzolari Lui

Proffessorchaos also encouraged me to try Lui, when I indicated it sounded interesting after folks were describing how loud and frightening it can be. I'm glad he did, as it is one I enjoy a lot, but I agree that it is one to be careful with in how much you apply and where you wear it. I wouldn't be surprised at any description of Lui that indicates it is an "in your face" powerhouse that requires proceeding with caution.

But to my nose, Lui is not like Kouros, in that it does not have the stinky urinous note that often gets noticed in Kouros, yet which makes it interesting to so many. To me, Lui is a very powerful animalic dark rose scent.

I was trying to explain to Mrs. Jakespoppy how some frags have notes that are described as "animalic", or "dirty", and how they help make those scents interesting and appealing. It's funny how trying to explain to someone that "animalic", and "dirty", and "urinous", and even in some cases like Czech & Speake's Cuba a "fecal" note, can make scents more appealing. She looked at me like I was crazy!

And yes, some people don't get those notes, or think of them that way. And either way, some of us love those scents, and some hate them. It always amuses me that everytime we start a thread that is either "What is your favorite scent?" or "What is the worst scent?", some of the same scents are on both lists! I have never seen a scent that is either loved by all, or hated by all.

This is why I think "YMMV" applies as much, if not more, to scents than to any other product.

Yep that's the one I am talking about :001_tt2:

Ok and so when you talk about a Urinous stink in a perfume language u don't necessarily mean like a stink of "pee" :cursing:

I think it depends on who you ask. My guess is those who don't like that scent, like in Kouros, smell something exactly like "pee" and that's all they smell, or notice, and others who do like Kouros probably don't get that same exact smell, just something similar and that comes and goes quickly. But this is purely speculation on my part.

I do know that we all have different preferences in what we like in smells and tastes, and those tastes and smells that we don't like stand out much stronger to us, sometimes to the point that we can't stand the smell overall, or the flavor. I have a friend who hates onion in food. Event the tiniest bit will ruin a dish, as far as he is concerned, where others might not even notice that the dish contains onion. And if my friend even smells onion, it turns his stomach. I think the same is true in scents. Ask ten people what they smell in a fragrance, and you will probably get ten different answers. You can tell that by reading how folks here describe their favorite and least favorite scents. It always come down to YMMV.
