TBS Maca Root Cream or C&E Soap???

So I find myself a few minutes away from both a Body Shop and Crabtree & Evelyn store while in Atlanta for work and I think I will visit both tomorrow before I head home. I have no experience with any of their products, but I will likely end up buying something from one or the other, but not both.
So, I am left with the quandry:
C&E Nomad Soap?
C&E Sienna Soap?
TBS Maca Root Cream?

Which one would you choose & why?

HELP!!

Thanks!!!!!

That is a quandry!

I have the Maca Root Cream from TBS--it is perhaps my favorite cream I've tried. It is great.

I also have C&E Sandalwood soap I love (my favorite soap, easily). I have the nomad puck, but haven't opened it and put it in the bowl yet. It is a muskier scent if I recall correctly.

If you're going for scent, I think the C&E is better overall--Maca Root stuff is okay but nothing out of this world. If you're going for "quality of shave" the TBS Maca Cream wins in my opinion for slickness and cushion.

Honestly, they are my two favorite things to use. Until I got a new cream from QCS to try yesterday, I've been rotating between C&E Soap and TBS Maca Root Cream.

My final recommendation is to go both placesand get one of each.

Go with the C&E Nomad man! I have all of the products you listed, and live in the ATL. I wouldn't pass up the C&E Sandlewood either, I would pick it over the Sienna IMO. C&E usually had a Buy 2 get one free sale. Theyre probably my favorite soaps, even better than the more expensive MWF, Harris, etc.

Thanks for the insight, fellas, I'll have to scope them out before I head back to Birmingham this afternoon.

Uh, this is indeed what happened

Couldn't decide so I compromised and bought the tube instead of the tub from the Body Shop & saved a couple of bucks then sprung for the C&E soap w/bowl. Tough call there too as I liked all three scents, but decided on the Sienna this time around. Almost just bought two pucks instead, but it is such an odd shaped puck & a nice bowl, which I like.

Now, with the arrival of about a dozen samplers from Mama Bear, what the heck is my next SOTD gonna' be?!? :w00t:

Tried the Maca Root cream this morning and found it to be outstanding!

Used a standard almond-sized dollop in the bowl and lathered with my vintage Fuller boar. Got great, thick, abundant, slick lather and had a very nice 3 pass shave with no irritation & my face feels great this morning. Razor was my Cooncat w/NEW head and an Israeli Personna blade, FYI.

The little Fuller is my go to brush, but it is smallish (probably 3/4 or less of a VDH boar for comparison) and can sometimes not hold enough lather for 3-4 passes, but no such concerns this time around. If anything, I could easily use a smaller dollop of this cream and still be fine, as it was generating gobs of lather and I had quite a bit left in the bowl that the brush couldn't take.

This is very nice stuff, just wanted to confirm that your recommendations were spot on! :thumbup1:

I'll give the C&E soap a go this weekend and see how it does.

Thanks again, fellas!

Saw the post, and I truly empathize with you!

I have, and regularly use, all three.
They are easily my favorites, and I change them more on a whim of which scent I want at that particular time than anything else.
All 3 are easy to lather, have a nice rich scent, and let the razor glide oh so well.

A few months ago TBS was having a buy two get one free sale, then another for get 3 for $30.
I stocked up for the Shave-ocalpyse with both the cream and the Razor relief ASB.
I'd recommend getting a sample of the razor relief, but be warned you may like it!! :001_tt1:
I tried the C&E ASBs, but found they burned from alcohol more than soothed.
My face felt much better 5 minutes after applying the Razor Relief than the C&E.
It has an odd warming sensation, that just feels great.

Very nice. Let me know what you think of the Siena. I love the C&E soaps and have a Siena puck on the counter but haven't opened it yet.

I was just in TBS tonight with the wife. I picked up one of their brushes to try, I figure for $11 it's worth a whirl:001_smile, I don't have high hope though. I was going to buy some Maca Root cream to try but I opened the tester and the scent put me off. I understand that many of you guys like the performance but how do you live with that scent? FYI, I let my wife have a wiff and she said "Don't you dare buy that stuff!"

wow! Tough call! Both are excellent! Heck, why not buy both? One day you may be in the mood for one over the other.
