Both of them were reformulated over four years ago, and are shadows of their former selves.

The scent of the avocado is quite polarising, you'll either love it or hate, it might be worth trying to get a sample first. Personally I hate it but everyones different.

I got a sample of the Rose, I really enjoyed it. It doesn't smell old-ladyish to me, more like an English flower garden (or how I'd imagine one smells). It moisturizes fine, lathers well, not quite as slick and cushiony as the T&H but the price difference makes up for it.

I'm developing a new appreciation for the English creams and in the middle of a rose-off between the 3 Ts. We'll see how it goes.

Use them both and like them both. The rose smelled kind of strange to me out of the tub (as opposed to smelling it in the tub) but mostly nice.

I love both, the avocado was my first go-to cream and then followed by the rose when I bought a tub of it on a whim to replace the finished avocado. I've gotten more consistently great results with the avocado, but I'm not sure if that had to do with a brush change more than the cream itself.

I think both of them equally perform as well as one another....

Depending what you prefer re. scents... Rose obviously smells nice, but Avacado also smells fresh and fragrant..

Get both!

I hope the rose is good, I have just ordered SWMBO a tub of it.

Is it for typical shaving stuffs ?

The reason I ask is that I am trying to get my SWMBO interested in these products, I have a tub of the rose and it is one of my favorites.

I was tempted to say to SWMBO, "SwimBo, give this a try on your face, etc"

Just looking for suggestions so as to get her as addicted as I am.

thanks

My experience is kind of odd. My first cream when being introduced to wet shaving last fall was TOBS avocado. I really didn't care for the scent, so I ordered Rose. I like the rose, but wish that the smell had been more floral and less powdery. I hadn't used the avocado in a while, but when I went back to it . . . it smelled amazing. I'm not saying that the scent itself changed, it did not, just for whatever reason it really grew on me and my perception of the scent went through the roof. So now I am back to favoring the avocado. I say buy both. I have my moods where its nice to simply have the option.

They both have extremely effective moisturizing properties and provide lots of cushion and lubricity. I prefer the Rose because of its scent and because I am very peculiar about mixing and matching my AS with the creams / soaps I use. With the Rose TOBS, I can use almost any woodsy or floral AS splash / balm. I would only use Trumpers Lime Skin Food with the Avocado scent, and that would be too limiting for me. YMMV.
