Taking the plunge!

After several months of needing a replacement for my Vulfix 1000A, I finally pulled the trigger on a Rooney Style 3 "Special" - Faux Tortoise Shell - "Super" Silvertip. I'd been eying the 3/1's before but couldn't decide between the faux ivory or the faux ebony. Then somebody posted pictures of the faux tortoise shell and my decision was made. Can't wait 'til it comes in!

Thanks! I actually like my Vulfix, but the doggone thing started shedding on me about six or eight months after I got it. I'll be really happy not to have to fish sheds off of my soap for a change.

I have a few brushes but my Vulfix was my first, over 10 years ago. I still use it for creams when I want an obscenely soft brush. Sorry yours has started shedding. I recently got a Rooney 2/1 in super and quite like it. Much more dense, almost as soft and much firmer.

Well, the big brown truck finally arrived! My first impression is that this is a quality piece of merchandise (looks like real tortoise shell, no mold/machining marks). The faux tortoise is very pleasing to the eyes. After I get some yard work done, I'll give it a try!

my Rooney took a few uses to break in, that being it seemed to soften up maybe just a tad but got better imho giving up the lather, if you can post pics

I'll have to wait for my electronics adviser (teenage daughter) gets home to help me post pics! It looks identical to the ones that I've seen posted here, though. It appears to be a little stiffer than my old Vulfix, but it's nothing that I'd dread using, by any means. I read somewhere that you can actually speed up the break in by practicing lathering on the palm of your hand. I may try that little trick and see if it works.

I bought one a month or so ago and have been very pleased. The only criticism (and this is nit-picking) is that a small line of white from creams has formed at the base of one of the crevices. I chose the coral one, so its noticeable. Even scraping with a small tweezer doesn't remove it. But who cares? It does its job admirably!

Those coral brushes are very nice! It was almost a coin toss between the coral and the tortoise shell, but the tortoise won out in my decision.
I finally got to do my first shave with this brush and I am impressed! I can't imagine it being much better. I tried it a couple of times on my palm with some Kent soap, and it didn't seem to lather very well. I switched to Tabac and after a couple of tries, whipped up as good a lather as I normally get with my old Vulfix. I only noticed two hairs afterwards, too. Looks like money well spent!

I love my ebony 3/1 Super, but man, is that handle hard to keep clean, lol...you really have to get in there to keep the ring around the lower part of the handle from turning white with soap buildup.
