What are your recommendations for that excellent quality T-Shirt to wear with jeans in a very casual environment. No wife beater looks, no Fruit of the Loom undergarments, nix the Ed Hardy and the like... Just a really great preferably Black or dark tone T that wears and launders well. ( or is this a totally unacceptable look for guys over the age of 29?) Your turn.... Tell me what you think on all accounts as to good selections etc.

I'm 30 and still rocking the t-shirt, jeans, and blunnies every chance I get (basically this sort of getup is a second skin while not at the office).

I highly recommed american apparel - they have tons of colors, launder very well, are comfortable and fit amazingly.

I used to buy black Calvin Klein t's. Nowadays, I buy inexpensive Merona black t's. I find them to be of equal quality as CK.

whatsamatta with FOTL pocket Tees?

Meronas are good, too... many of those in the house (Meronas are the boys' & their mama's choice).

Incidentally, I understand that even men over 50 often wear tee-shirts w/ jeans. !!!!! Why - I do... and I am!!!! right this very minute! (Kinda chilly here, so a Weatherproof river driver's shirt over the tee.... If the weather were warmer, no compunction at all against the tee. FOTL pocket tee. Black.

Jon,
I have always found the FOTL T's to be very thin, almost see thru... I would like that "thicker" fabric that the higher end T-shirts sport minus the ridiculous graphics. I want a black/charcoal color that will look the least bit dressier that combines well with jeans and Ecco driving shoes or the like.

As for the American Apparel suggestion, there seems to be quite a nice selection.... Target carries Merona no? Anybody favor the plain GAP T-Shirt?

FOTL makes higher quality T's than the ones that come in the 5 pack of undershirts. You can get them at Walmart, they're usually sold single for about $5.

My sincere apologies to Jon. He meant the much higher quality Wal-Mart version of FOTL. (and as for those strange looks at the Gucci botique... Wear pants next time ok?)

There are both and many may not know about the thicker one for $5 versus the four pack. They are still just a slight bit thinner than a T you might get at one of the higher end places for $20 but it ain't that thin!!!!

+1 on the higher quality $5 FOTL single T's short and long sleeve versions. They're very comfortable, by themselves, or under a button up shirt.

edit forgot to add: I think the long sleeve version is just a couple bucks more.

Target sells Jerzees brand tshirts that are actually pretty decent. About $5.
And I am over fifty, still wear tshirts, jeans and tennis shoes at every opportunity.

whippersnappers......

I like the Jerzees brand, inexpensive and launders well. I put them on a hanger to dry and they come out wrinkle free. They come in long and short sleeved.

Stop at your nearest Harley Davidson dealer...numerous choices for Black or dark tone t-shirts. Yeah, they are expensive...but they last and go great with jeans :thumbup1:

Stay far far away from the Gap tees. one wash and you can toss them!

I used to work at Banana Republic in college so I got discounts at BR, Gap, and Old Navy

The Gap tees were crap. One wash and they were done. The BR tees differed so much I could not make a blanket statement. Some were great and some were horrible.

Some of the best tees I ever owned were from a place called Structure. They were bought out by Express probably 10-12 years ago though. I don't ever go in Express so I am not sure about their stuff

I've owned 2 express t's. loved them for about 5-10 wears. then they faded and one got blotches like I had used bleach on it. I've never bought bleach in my life so that wasn't a possibility. I will monitor this thread close as I'm always on the lookout for great t's at good prices.

I do have 2 v neck t's from old navy that have held the test of time thus far, but i don't wear v neck's often. not sure about the old navy crew necks
