T&H (Rooney) Softness

I received a new T&H Style 1, Large Silvertip brush last week. I used Ambrose's method ( ...get rid of the funk...) as a break in method and have been using it everyday until till this morning. I used my Shavemac Silvertip this morning and will use my Savile Row tomorrow to reaffirm my impressions of the last few days with the T&H.

My question concerns the break in period for this brush. I have found that the tips of the T&H are no where near as soft, at this stage, as my Savile Row (3124 Silvertip), or my Shavemac (#25 Silvertip), were when I purchased them. Since my understanding is this is a private label brush from Rooney I would ask is there a longer break in period for these brushes? Will the tips soften as I continue to use the brush? Should it take a month, 3 months, 6 months? Is it a realist to expect the tips to soften as much as my Shavemac or my Savile Row?

Clarifying softness, tips of the T&H seem to be about half way between my other brushes in Finest (or Best) and the Shavemac/SR.

Any commits would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dan

I recieved my Rooney 1/1 last week, and first thing I noticed with that silvertip, it's no where near as soft as my Shavemac or Kent.

I love it, don't get me wrong, but soft it isn't. That said, can you really judge a brush after only 2 weeks?

Yes, it will soften up. I can't remember how long it took my Rooney Super since I rotate several brushes.
That being said, it will never be as soft as a Shavemac silvertip or a Saville Row. I like the scrubby feeling for face lathering and find the tips more than soft enough.

Guys, Rooneys are legendary for need some major break-in time. They are like Dr. Marten's. The break-in period can be long and occasionally awkward, but once you hit the sweet spot you can count on years of service.

Nothing that good comes totally free. It takes a little work.

I guess it's the old adage "no pain no gain". I do enjoy using the brush and some time on soaps should allow the tips to work harder than the cream regiment I've been on lately. Thanks
