Sweet Potato Pie and I Shut My Mouth

Does anyone have a favorite recipe for sweet potato pie? I tend not to like to much (or any) "pumpkin pie spice" and the pies I've tried in the deep south like Atlanta have not had that.

But my bias aside - what is your favorite?

Thanks!

I made a couple sweet potato pies suing a recipe that I looked up online. Of the several recipes that I found, none of them had pumpkin pie spice in them. Don't recall the link, but I'm sure you could find something to your liking that way.

Matt, for what it is worth you can do the same with pumpkin. It is after all a squash and responds just as well to savory treatments as it does sugar and holiday spices. I have not had a sweet potato pie in a long time. Maybe I should remedy that.

Cheers, Todd

I'm a huge redneck so it has to be sweet potato. Any country songs on Pumpkin pie? I think the spices I don't like much of that virtually every recipe has are cinnamon and ginger. I love cinnamon, and like ginger in small amounts but together make it indiscernible from pumpkin pie. The obvious solution is to not use those ingredients but I'm more interested in what the experts here like.

I do have one recipe which I've used before but I just don't know how authentic it is (from foodnetwork). I've made this and it gets great compliments.
