Supermax Titanium

Are these the Vidyut blades. I've used both the Stainless and Platinum that are made by them. Liked the Plats, but I'm still working the courage back up to try the stainless again. Hopefully I just got a dud blade the first time around.

Thanks. Almost $15 for 50 blades, they should be better blades. I paid about $18 for 240 Super-Max Platinum blades.

The price is not right, should be much less. That is also my only problem with these blades. The way our Indian suppliers price them they are as expensive as Feathers. In India they are cheap.

The Supermax Super Stainless are very good and very cheap, they are my favourite blade by far. I am going to get a supply of the Platinums and the Titaniums, once I have worked my way through the 100 pack of Derbys I have.

Gentlemen,

I respect your sentiment, but would like to add a perspective. Indian products have an Max Retail Price on them which indicates the price it sells for in stores in India in INR. The retail stores get price discounts in the range of 2.5 - 4% on MRP from te manufacturers. So the maximum profit to be made in retail stores is around 4%

It also depends on the brand value. Old Spice and Gillette have a fixed retailer discount of a mere 1.5% on the MRP !!!

In an international shopping scenario, the profits have to be a bit higher to cover the overheads of :

1) running a website, store, web hosting etc and also have tie ups with logistics vendors.

2) almost 4% per transaction charge levied by Paypal.

3) Paypal exchange rates are at Rs. 44 per USD compared to market rates

4) International fund transfer charges by local banks.

However, I agree that ultimately it varies from vendor to vendor on how much markup they will charge on their buying cost of a product.

The MRP of Tiger is Rs. 35 per 5 blades in India, and that of Sunrise is Rs. 25. The platinum is Rs. 16.50.

Considering that shipping half way around the world is expensive, it is generally a better model to price product right to balance out the shipping charges !!

It is also interesting to note that most product pricing in US and European stores is store driven - it is not manufacturer printed, so there is no way to figure out the actual profits !!

Personally I think some ebay sellers of Indian blades are making an absolute killing. They know there is a market for them outside India and charge prices they could never dream of in India.

They are great blades. If you would like to try some PM me and I will send you a pack.

Got the blades today. Thanks for the extras. How did you know that I hadn't tried these.

Let me know when yours arrive.

I agree but that's market forces at work. Many items are less expensive overseas, only to see a dramatic up-tick in price in the West. However, I have no problem with vendors making profits. I also find onlne vendors from India are willing to negotiate on price if you work for it and provide good customer service, or at least it's been my experience.

Been using these blades for three days now and I find it to be a very good blade. Very smooth shave!

I got a packet of the blue stainless blades with a Parker razor that I bought. I haven't tried them yet as I was waiting until I have tried all of my other blades since they didn't get very good reviews. I'll definitely try them as they are available for a very good price.
