Super Speed Disassembly Questions

My ever-growing collection has several late 50 to mid 60's Super Speeds that have the handle tip screwing out of the handle, instead of lifting the bay doors. I presume some over zealous cleaning or turning has broken something inside, and I would really like to try a repair on these few, rather than relegate them to the "parts bin", particularly in view of the fact that if they can't be repaired, what's the point of a parts bin?
I have searched High and Low, on B&B and everywhere else I can think of to find disassembly tips but all I can seem to find is the excellent post on the Fat Boy.
Does anyone have any leads that I could follow in this endeavor?
Thanks in advance for any reply.

I have been looking for this info!

THANKS GUYS! I know this is up from the depths, but by posting to it I will be able to find it easily and there may be some new members that haven't seen it!

Except, for the problem in the OP, it is unnecessary to take it apart.
If your knob drops, the problem is that the crimp at the bottom of the handle is wearing out.
This can be recrimped with either a very dull pipe cutter, or the back edge of a butter knife rolling on the edge of a counter - both with enough cloth between to protect the finish.
