Super Adjustable noise question

Just got one in the mail today. It's in great shape but the action, even though now well-lubricated, is noticeably noisier and not nearly as fluid as the action on my earlier SS's - the action on my red tip is literally like silk, both in soundlessness and feel. The Lady almost close to the same.

Also, I cannot tell for sure from the overall weight but I suspect the entire handle is plastic, instead of sheathed aluminum as I'd originally thought...does this explain why I'm hearing more of the inside movement than on the metal-handled SS's? (the doors on this one are noisier, too). Is the handle on this just a plastic tube? It's a '71, btw, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance,

No doubt that the more recent the model, the slow decline in quality shows up.
I have one that was squaky and clunky even after oiling, but it just took some time for the lubrication to get inside to all the parts. It's very quiet now.

Thanks. It does appear to not have been used much. Maybe the moving parts never got too broken in, and could use some now to quieten the thing down. Hm, what to do about that...what to do...

soak it overnight in a small container of baby oil, then work it, work it.
