stripping plating on a Tech

I bought my first RAD loot on ebay. I nice non-date coded (pre-1951?) fat handle Tech in gold. In retrospect paid a bit much for it, but the $1.75 shipping to Canada made up for it.

However, the old plating and lacquer have worn off at the head and some of the handle. I was thinking of stripping the plating so it's a natural copper/brass colour and then re-lacquering it. I think it will look better this way...

Is it a worthwhile to do this? How would I go about stripping the rest of the plating?

I saw a post ounce here that said Brasso would do it maybe the pro's here can add to this. You have to just seat around rubbing it in for a while till the gold is gone.

Do you know how I would go about re-lacquering it?
Or maybe it is easier to use it in its bare metal state with no plating and no lacquer...?

You are better off keeping it au natural! Then you can buff it up as required quite easily.

However, you can use a spray can clear lacquer/urethane and get good results. But once you do, you need to be very careful with it and will probably still end up nicking the coating. Which will leave a tarnishing spot.
