What's new

striking out

My wife caught a whiff of my Tabac EDC today. She compared it to something her grandmother might have worn, and completely body slammed me about it. I'm at a loss. After hearing me comment about my appreciation of Green Irish Tweed, she invited me to purchase as many $300.00 frags necessary to keep me from ever wearing stuff like Tabac (and the rest of my lineup of old timey aftershaves) ever again. The only problem is, I really enjoy the cheap stuff just as much.

This is truly a thorny conundrum.

Your wife sounds like mine. The only thing she likes is Creed even after hundreds of blind sniffs of everything under the sun.

Well..here's another scenario..my dad loves plad designed shirts..my mother can't stand to look at them..my dad still loves his plad shirts and wears them often..point being...some things can get "used" to..

I tend to take a compromised approach with the situation. For the most part I wear what I like.

On days where I know we will spend a lot of time near each other or on dates and such, I stick to Aventus and GIT which are the most praised in my household.

try Taylor of Bond St.'s Victorian limes or sandalwood. D.R. Harris Arlington cologne, or go on "basenotes" website to see what some great brands are. I like Halston Z14, cheap and smells musky and nice. I drop an extra clove in the bottle for an extra clovey smell.
many great colognes in that price range. I also like Lacoste, Bulgari Black tea, Helmut Lang

My wife only cares for a few of my niche frags, but she LOVES Valentino V pour homme. For me, Valentino is just...meh, but I wear it for her when we're going to be spending time together. The rest of the time...I wear what I love. Good luck, but I wish my lovely bride would green light my buying expensive frags ;-)

Maybe I should just start wearing The Veg around her...she'll be begging me to buy more Creed and Tom Ford, lol

+1 to this. Wifey is still pouting because I won't choose one "signature scent" and wear it all the time :001_unsur

So, during the week when we're not around each other very much, I wear what I want (many assorted frags), and on the weekend, I wear L'Occitane eau de L'Occitan, which she likes a lot.

If my wife doesn't like a scent I simply do not use it anymore. If I don't like a scent I simply do not use it anymore. There are so many out there I'll never try them all so why get stuck on one that causes a problem for either of us.

I wish I had your problem.

Have you tried the L'occitane Vetyver? Good stuff. My wifemate wears its part of the time as well.
