straightrazor designs private label brushes

Has anybody bought one of these and if so, what's your opinion? They are also sellers of Simpsons brushes and claim that these brushes are superior to Simpsons in both softness and backbone. This is difficult to believe, of course, and that's why I'd like to know if anyone has had first-hand experience.

Well, they say they compare to Simpsons (from the description I read anyway). I noticed these while going through their Thater brushes yesterday. Nice handles.

Would you expect them to say that their (fill-in-the-product) is not as good as their competitor's?

I just found out this morning that they are actually located about 1 hour from my home, so I am going there this afternoon to see for myself. I wouldn't be surprised if they make as much money (or more?) on a $100 generic as they do on a $150 Simpsons.

Just got back from my visit to their store. Don, the owner, is a very, very nice guy - helpful and not pushy at all. I ended up buying some shaving cream and a mug, but no brush. Their generic brushes looked and felt nice, but somehow, I wasn't impressed. I am not sure what I was expecting from the Simpsons I saw there (Duke, Tulip, etc.), but they didn't persuade me that they offered anything better than my Rooneys and Kents. Maybe I'll buy one at some point because, as a collector, I "should" have one.

I bought one of their smaller brushes. The super hair grade has been way to scrubby/scritchy for me and the handles are nice but not any more special than from other artesan vendors... So bottomline not worth it... YMMV
