Hello all, I'm still new and I'm still confused... if not more so now. You see, before I was introduced to the wonderful of DE shaving, I just assumed that nicks, razor burn, irritation, and badly ingrown hairs are just all a part of shaving so I just tried to shave as seldom as I can get away with and life went on.
Then I found the light and since then I actually love the morning ritual so much that I even shave on Saturday and Sunday! The only "problem" now is that since I discovered I can shave daily and still have clear calm skin, I'm now searching for perfection to the point where one little ingrown hair or razor bump bothers me!
The issue is that I love sandalwood scent but I cannot take the chance of using products that may clog my pores. I'm trying to get the best of both worlds by using unscented products with pore clearing ingredients such as salicylic acid and then use a sandalwood AF before leaving home.
I'm just wondering if this routine would work and if not, give me some suggestions:
1) shower/exfoliate using good facial cleanser (i.e. MenScience, Neutrogena, St. Eve)
2) use Noxema pre-shave and a good shave soap or cream (i.e. TOBS, AOS, Spencer & Devon, etc)
3) cold water rinse, followed by Thayer's WH
4) finish with high quality moisturizer (i.e. MenScience, Neutrogena, something that is oil free and maybe has some salicylic acid for bump prevention)
5) I would complete the above four steps all before getting dressed. Then get dressed, have breakfast, brush teeth then splash on my favorite AF scent before leaving
I'm wondering if this makes sense or if doing step 5 after 4 (although 15-20 mins after) is counterproductive.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but your help would be appreciated. Thank you.
