Stater Kit for a Friend

Here's a starter kit that I put together for a friend of mine.
Did I miss anything? Any advice I should give him? I'm kinda new to DE shaving myself, but I thought this would be a good inexpensive spread to get him started. We both just got done with school and have professional jobs where we need to shave every day. He's been using a Mach 3 with Burts Bees shaving cream.

Just remind him not to put pressure on the razor. When you swap over from standard wetshaving that is the biggest issue for most people.

Great starter set up though!

Ma, I need better friends. They just all quit talking to me when I talk about shaving

I told him I started shaving with a brush and a traditional DE razor and he said, "Sounds like you."

He doesn't know he's getting this, yet so maybe I'll be wishing for better friends soon, too.

Nice set up. Where did you get the Godrej?

The only suggestion I would make is that considering current threads regarding the inconsistent quality of Derby Blades, I would not include them.

Good Luck!

By the way, what I have done is put together similar kits for what used to be called "Chinese Auctions" when organizations I am associated with have had them as fundraisers. They've done well.

Nice set up. Where did you get the Godrej?

There's an Indian supemarket near my house that carries it for $2.99. I picked up two tubes of the red and one of the menthol yesterday. They have two of the red left and plenty of menthol and lime.

The only suggestion I would make is that considering current threads regarding the inconsistent quality of Derby Blades, I would not include them.

I was a bit worried about that. The web site I ordered these from had their picture as the old "horizontal" label Derbys. I guess I could part with some of my current stock of blades and get another sampler pack from Phil at Bullgoose. Ho hum, poor me.

Thanks for the feedback.

1. Tell him to focus on blade angle and pressure

2. Teach him to build a proper lather

3. Recommend he joine B&B!!! or at the very least, send him the link and suggest he watch Mantics videos...those are a huge help for any newbie (and not so newbie).

I wish I had a friend like you!
