Star Razor.....anyone else have one of these

Hi All....thought i'd post up a couple pic's of my Star razor and see if anyone could possibly tell what era it might be from. I picked it up on fleabay a year or so ago for $5 because i was looking for a vintage razor to start shaving with. I was taken by the gold tone head and excellent condition. The handle is black plastic making it a very light razor. I love using this thing. Call me crazy but i like this better than my Rotbart Mond-Extra. Let me know what you guys think.....

First, Rich, welcome to B&B!

I have a Star DE razor, and I believe that what you have there might be a frankenrazor (a mash-up of pieces from a couple of razors): the head pieces are from a Star DE all right, but the handle is something I've not seen anywhere before. Check out the reviews section here to see a pic of the gold-toned, metal knurled handle that I believe originally came with that head.

That said, I'm no Alex and my knowledge is far from complete. If I'm wrong about this, it sure won't be the first time (and probably not the last!)

...And regardless of what I or anyone else says about the razor, if you enjoy using it, then it's mission accomplished!!

The Star DE did come with plastic handles, but they didn't look like that.
What you have looks like the handle of a Clix.

edit: except, hmm. Now looking in Wait's, it looks like Clix also has handles that look exactly like the plastic Star handles. Perhaps they had some more things in common.

Thanks Wingnut!!!! Well....whoever bashed this up had pretty good taste as far as i'm concerned!! Looked to me like it belonged together. I'm very pleased with the lightness and controlability of it....I appreciate your fast reply and thanks for the welcome!!! best....rich

WOW...thats a super looking Star there. It came with 2 Silver Star blades with the exact same logo/artwork as on your box. I still have them.....thanks for posting.....best rich

Thanks for posting that link porky pine....there's some great info there..i must've overlooked it when i was searching. I agree with much of what was said in the first post especially the maneuverability and ease of getting it into tight spots like under my nose......thanks again!!

best, rich

It's definitely not a Frankenrazor, I got one just like it about a year ago and have never even used it. It looks unused or used very little, probably ought to sell it cause I'll likely never use it.
