Stainless Safety Razor

I've never used a stainless DE, but I know Feather makes one, and its on the pricey side. You can check them out at any of the vendors that carry Feather products.

They are like any other shavers "Shaving Wise" But they are Solid Made, Most are Machined and not made from a Cast "Except Webers top and bottom plate" But Weber Stainless is only $70.00 and there handles are Machined and are fine shavers.

Staineless Steal Razors are solid and Hefty, Feel good in the hand and will last you a few life times, Also they dont rust as easily as Most razors do. They dont break as easy as pot metal razors do. Machined Stainless Steel razors usually start with a Solid Piece or a block of stainless steel, then Programed via a software like Auto Cad then machined shaped, So they are precisley made. With little to no imperfections, Almost like Art Work ) for this reason they are more expensive and better made then casted razors weather they are vintage or modern. Hope this helps you some )

Companies that make stainless razors (off the top of my head):

Feather
iKon
Tradere
Weber
Above The Tie
Pils

Tradere and Above The Tie make machined stainless razors in the US. Weber are made in the US, handles are machined, heads are cast. iKon are made in Thailand, handles are machined, heads are machined or sintered depending on model. Feather are made in Japan, I think the handles are machined and the heads cast or sintered, suspect sintered. Pils are made in Germany, I think they're machined.

Of the ones listed I've owned a Tradere, a Weber, and an iKon. The build quality of the Tradere is spectacular, it really is beautifully made. Unfortunately I didn't get on with the head design and I sold it. If Tradere ever make a razor with a head based on a vintage Gillette I'll be all over it. They really are gorgeous.

Weber are a bargain, you get lot of razor for your money and they're very well-liked. I have the polished head bulldog handle one and it's like a Merkur 34C on steroids. Lovely heft, very intuitive to use, and an all round very good razor. There have been reports of spotty QC, but I've got a good one. It's very easy to use and always gives good results.

iKon. Something of a controversial subject around here, but that seems to stem from the owner of the company rather than the product. I bought my razor privately so I had no dealings with iKon themselves. The razor (deluxe OC) is beautifully made. It fits together perfectly and the matte finish looks sexy and modern. This is my favourite, I always get an effortless very close shave with no irritation, to the extent that aftershave doesn't sting. This could well be my ideal.

As always, when it comes to performance Your Mileage May Vary...

I received a Weber from America a couple of weeks ago and have been using every day. It's the polished head version and I love it.

What company's make stainless steel DE razors?
and how would you rate them

I've had a number of stainless razors and still have one, having sold all of the rest.

You should pick a razor based on how it shaves for you, not what it is made of or what others are using.

what are you using now for a razor? Do you enjoy using it? What about it do you like? What about it do you NOT like?

casting is pouring molten metal in to a clay or green sand mold in the shape of a DE razor head
the metal used is a steel alloy that contains a certain percentage of chromium

What I meant, is: is the razor head also cast from stainless steel, or is a different metal used?

I have an Ikon Deluxe OC, a Weber Polished and an Above the Tie Atlas R1. The ATT R1 is my favorite of the three. I like it because it's a little more aggressive and I like the appearance of it more than the other two. I lean toward aggressive razors for myself.
