SR Sharpeness After Honing/Lond Storage?

I am traveling internationally from USA 3-12 months for business. Bringing a few SRs. I will have two of them SR honed by the legendary Lynn. How long does an edge keep its post hone peak sharpness IF it is not being used? I will use another for the first 3-4 months then bust the SRD honed SRs out after that. I won't have access to a hone stone, so I want to rotate a new one in every 3-4 months. Thanks in advance...

It depends. If it's oiled, it'll last for quite some time. If you have good stropping technique, you'll be fine. You may consider bringing some pastes or a barbers hone along as well.

Let me clarify probable situation. SRD sharpens 2 SRs. They sit in the Dovo cases untouched, never used, for 3-6 months.

When I pull one out of the box in 3-6 months from honing...will it be as sharp as the day I received it from SRD?

Most probably yes if the edge is oiled, no if its not.

If it's oiled, it should be. However, I took it a step further, addressing your entire situation. If you have good stropping technique, you'll not have any issues. If not, you might want to bring something along for touchups.

Most likely no. I remember Lynn writing about this quite a while ago. Even with oil during storage, he found that his razors were not quite as sharp 6 months later. He said they could still shave but there was a noticeable diminution.
