Square soap puck

I've searched the forums but cannot find a thread directly addressing my question.

How do you use square pucks of shaving soap? I have stockpiled several bars of Musgo Shaving Soap, which I love. I have cut one bar in half and grated it into a container. The other half is sitting in a re-used Cella soap container. Serviceable but not ideal. I have also held the bar/puck in hand to lather and rub it onto my face like a shave stick.

Has anyone come up with more Ingenius method? :001_smile

I would cut the square puck into smaller pieces, put them in my lathering bowl, then carefully nuke them in the microwave to melt them in the bowl.

Grate it, smash it all together, and you are good to go.

I'd be careful microwaving shave soap. It works great for soaps that are from a melt and pour base (like Mama Bear), but the not as well for most tallow and/or artisan soaps.

Any soap tolerates grating and works just as well if not better. I think it makes soaps lather slightly better because it presents slightly more surface area.
