Splashes vs. Aftershave balms

What advantages do splashes have over aftershave balms? I'm presently using balms but want to venture out into the splash world. Thanks

I have only tried sample balms and didnt like the fact the stickyness stuck around while it soaked in and dried. Splash's win in everyway imo.

Whether splashes or balms suit you better depends on a number of factors.

If your skin is oily, splashes might serve you better. Likewise, if your skin is dry, balms might be preferable.

If the weather is warm and/or the humidity is high, you might prefer a splash. If the weather is cold and/or the air is dry, you might select a balm.

Even with these generalizations, there are differences within the categories themselves. For example, Alt-Innsbruck is a splash that does not moisturize at all, it is basically alcohol, menthol, and fragrance. Musgo Real's splash is so moisturizing, on the other hand, it can seem oily if you over-apply it. While I have less experience with balms, I can say that Castle Forbes balms aren't overly moisturizing, but the Art of Shaving balms are exceptionally so, almost too much so for humid Florida.

I recommend hitting up Superlather for some after shave decants, it is a wonderfully inexpensive way to try a bunch of different products.

My skin is oily in the summer and dry in the winter. Mennens Skin Bracer works well in the summer because it has a dry finish, and Aqua Velva works good in the winter because it provides just a touch of moisturizing.
