Still not smooth but fairly effective. It's either that this blade does not match the Merkur very well, or that the vintage Gillettes shave much smoother.

What a way to start the work week! Tried to bowl lather the Honeybee Essentials and wound up with a weak bubbly soap that wouldn't hold up on the face. As a result, the first pass was not the greatest at all. The blade felt like it was tugging (but I know it was just the lack of adequate prep because Glen put an outstanding edge on this baby when he restored her) and I knicked myself under the chin. For the second and third passes, I decided to face lather, and that is where this Semogue really shines. I found myself drowning in thick, rich lather and the blade suddenly seemed to glide around the face.

The scent of the rosewood cedar was perfect for a fall morning and the Le Labo fragrance never fails to set my mood right.
