What's new

SOTD "FREE WEEK" February 17th - February 23rd, 2020

Pre: Hot Shower
Razor: Charcoal Goods Level-2 base plate, limited edition Victorian.
Blade: Gillette Rubie
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk3
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Squadron, The Warden
Post: Squadron, The Warden Aftershave
WTG, ATG, touch ups with adjusted angles for my beard.

Charcoal Goods Victorian is in my possession. As you would expect the fit and finish is top shelf and I like the engravings, just a stunner.
The first shave was stupendous. First pass easily mowed down the whiskers. I could hear ( I am hard of hearing) audible feedback, this razor sings. Second pass and touch ups wiped away any leftover whiskers and shaved the trouble spots with ease. Very comfortable shave with no irritation or weepers. Its an efficient, comfortable and easy razor to use. It does live up to the hype. Very impressed.

Razor - PAA DOC
Blade - Astra SP
Brush - Paladin PK-47 "Lapis Lazuli" 26mm 2-band select badger
Cream - TOBS Jermyn St
A/S - OneBlade aftershave balm

I am super pleased with this shave. Right now I'm really just going for comfort, and the Phoenix DOC is just what I need. I am finding that all of my lathers from the Captain's Choice bowl have been airier than my face lathers, so I may try a different bowl that doesn't put as much air into the lather, but the creams are still performing great, and my shave is pretty close and more importantly there's no irritation and barely any redness (much like Cris from Another Cut Above, I always have a little and there's no avoiding it). My complexion is great and my face feels refreshed. 👍

After a no shave Sunday, today my seldom used Charcoal Goods level 2 open comb got the nod. I love the level 2 solid bar, but the open comb sits in a drawer not seeing much daylight. To me the CG open comb is not as smooth as the CG SB, but still sings and gives an amazing shave. The OC requires a bit more concentration or else it has potential to bite. No bites today, just a BBS result.
