Sore subject? Futur clone.

I haven't seen any posts here about the Futur clone that shaveabuck offers. There were some posts on other forums but I was wondering if anyone here has one and how they like it. I have one on the way so I should be able to give a review once I give it a whirl.

Is this like a forsaken subject or has nobody tried one?

If I could find a uk vendor then I would definitely get one, I have 2 Merkur Futur razors already so my conscience is clear on this issue

I have a Futur clone and a Merkur Futur as well. The clone is no well less made than the original. It weighs considerably more than the original as well. The blade alignment on both of mine is a bit hokey, but it doesn't seem to bother the shave at all. I don't use either very much as they are both on the large side of my size preference.

Thanks for the input. How does the clone shave in comparison to the real deal?

I just looked at that razor. How in the heck do they get away with the blatant rip off?

A post in a different forum states that Merkur's patent has expired as the future was patented many years ago.

I don't think patent laws/restrictions would have stopped the Chinese anyway though.

It is slightly more mild. 3 on the clone is easier than 3 on the Futur. The clone also doesn't have an adjustment stop. You can open it way up until the head falls off gi ving you a much larger range of adjustment. In my experience, QC at Merkur is marginal at best. This clone is no worse built than the real thing and only a fraction of the cost. It is big, heavy and shaves well.
