Some Blind Buy Advice, Please

Would either of the following be relatively safe for a blind buy in the case of someone who enjoys mostly old school fragrances?

Acqua di Selva

Caron Pour Un Homme by Caron

I have and enjoy Caron Pour Un Homme. You will need to like lavender and vanilla. But I honestly think I got a sample before I bought it. Personally think sampling is a good idea to prevent sinking too much into something you don't like. Not sure you are near any stores that might have some for free testing. In Omaha, think the only place that carries it is a small, discount operation; none of the department stores have it. Have no idea about Acqua di Selva.

I have Caron's on my to get list - going on 2 months now. I have yet to smell the stuff, but all reviews have been positive.

I have read that the reformulation of Acqua di Selva is but a watered down version of its former self.

Well, they're both extremely old scents.

Caron is pretty potent, and took me a while to like it - I never liked it when wrist testing, but was surprised that it was okay in the wearing. But Acqua di Selva is only a cologne and very definitely at lowish cologne strength (my bottle is 12 years old, so I doubt it is the reformulated version). I need to put on about 12 sprays to get a nice effect that lasts about three or four hours.
Regards,
Renato

Usually on blind-buys, I'll look at the Fragrance notes, if it's something I'd normally wear I would give it a try. I wouldn't blind-buy an Aquatic if I like Woody or Fougere type scents.

Advice on blind buys is easy. Don't.

Aqua di Selva is fantastic. Smells like it always has (I've had the same bottle for a long, long time).
