Soap or Cream?

Im sure im the 81st person to ask this, but here it goes. I have very sensitive skin, and I have been using shave CREAM and now I am wondering if shave soap would be better . Any input?

I lean cream...think I can build a better lather with my scuttle.

But a good tallow based soap rocks too. Hard to say.

You have to test for yourself.

I find creams easier to work with. If you never build lather before, I would recommend it. If you have a bit of experience, try a soap!

Cream or soap will give you lather... Pick what seems to be best to you!

I would have to agree that I find it easier to build a quality lather with creams. Soaps tend to be a bit drying on my skin, this might be something to consider since you mentioned that you have sensitive skin. Of course, YMMV. You should try a few soaps to see if you like them.

YMMV.

I find soaps to be slicker, so that might help. It really comes down to personal preference

+1

I used to have a pre conceived idea that soaps would dry out my skin. However I tried CADE soap last week and it was just as good as any cream I own, and provided a nic free BBS.

Try a couple and see how you go. Tallow based soaps seem to get great reviews from a moisturizing perspective along with MWF, which I haven't tried as yet.

Good luck

I have very sensitive skin

With either soap or cream it could be the formulation of the individual product that would irritate your skin. The ingredient that seems to be the most common cause is the essential oils that are sometimes used for fragrance.

If you are dealing with the creams and soaps that are popular here and find some that you can't handle, then you'll be able to sell them in the B/S/T forum.

Depends on the soap, and the cream. I like certain creams way more than certain soaps, and vise versa. I own mostly soaps, but there are some creams I can't stay away from.

I'm still new, but I went for soaps, partly because it seems there's a bigger selection for high quality, low cost soaps than there is for creams, and also because it's a little more nostalgic. I'll probably try out popular brick-and-mortar brands in the near future, though.

I have better results with cream than I do with soaps. I strongly recommend Nancy Boy Shave Cream. It does a great job. If you need further protection, and I doubt you will, use their Pre Shave oil and the aftershave balm. Above all, avoid any shave cream that comes out of a can.

I am very pleased with the Body Shop's Macca Root Shave cream. Some do not like the scent. I like it but it does not linger on the skin in any event. The store will give you a generous sample so you can demo before purchase.

I'm still new, but I've used creams (Taylor's) and Deluxe Van Der Hagen soap.

The creams are awesome and quick lathering, however they (the ones I've used) aren't as slick as the soaps I've used.

Just my limited experience.

I have both and use both - probably 60% creams to 40% soaps. Both work equally well and I don't notice much of a difference but then again I approach both with the same prep and same post shave routine.
