I know, I ased for it. Technicaly, I bought three razors on eBay. The pictures looked okay, and I'm thrilled with the DE Tech that came in the deal. I also got some funny replaceable blade straight, but I'm probably just going to either let it sit around forever or sell it somewheres.
Now to the fun stuff. As soon as I got my new straight, I decided to take a look at it, see what cleaning it needed, and discovered this:
It made me a little queesy.
So I flipped it over and saw this:
So with my stomach dropping to my feet I look at the front tip:
Oh good lord, it gets better. No pics, but I just looked at the edge applied to a flat surface, and there's a noticeable bow inwards of the blade. In other words, with a light behind it the front and back of the blade touch for a milimeter or two, and the rest of the blade has light visible through it.
So my questions are: Does anyone recognize the handiwork with the dremel artist here so I can thank them with a 2x4? Also, what grind is this? Did someone basically completely regrind this thing as it looks to me, or is this just a truly horribly made razor? Is it possible to fix this? With proper honing can the issues with the "flat" of the razor be ignored? Please note, I'm not looking for pretty, I'm usually more of a functional person.
For anyone wondering, it's a Genco Henry's XX, from Geneva NY. Or it used to be.
