Slowly balding brush

Could soaking a brush in too hot of water cause it to loose hair onesy twosy style. I have an AoS Pure Black Badger Brush. Are there any brushes out there that can handle hot water better?

You don't have to soak it in extremely hot water. There is always the possibility of damage that way. I use cold water to shave exclusively and my brush only sees cold water. My shaves have improved and I don't have to worry about brush damage. :biggrin1:

But if you use just lukewarm or warm water (which is all you should be using really) nothing will happen to your brush.

IMHO soaking a brush is not a good thing to do. I've found that just holding the bristles under hot water for a few accomplishes the same thing as soaking, plus it doesn't subject the knot where its glued to the handle, to the possible damaging effects of the water.

I think with boars it's a different ball game than badgers. I don't soak my badgers it only takes a few seconds of running water to saturate the hairs. With my couple boar brushes I do soak those, it takes longer for the bristles to absorb the water I think. I see broken bristles when I don't soak.

But +1 to the second post. Warm water is fine, cold water is fine, HOT water is not good for any part of the brush I'd say.

Hot water is fine. Brushes are made to be used and enjoyed.

But, there is a limit. A good general rule is that if its too hot for your skin then its probably too hot.
