What's new

Slantember 2024

Old Hippie

Somewhere between 61 and dead
I am just wondering if we will be doing to be a Slantember this year?

Only if we have a September. :)

Not sure who'd be coordinating it, but just show up and play.

I realized I tend to forget it because I use slants a lot anyway so it's just another shave day for me. Of course, as my twin sister reminds me almost every year, I also forget her birthday.

The other day I was trying to remember when I got so forgetful.

O.H.

OK, let's hope I am not the only one showing some interest in the Slantember 24 shaves. I have participated x 2 before and enjoyed; and this year I have a few "new to me" slant razors including a vintage bakelite US slant (next in line).
But today:
Head shave
Razor: Hoffritz (first use)
Blade GSB (Russia). #1
PXL_20240902_045722969~2.jpg

Soap SV
AS Speick
AB Speick
Brush was a Muhle synthetic
This was a 2 pass shave plus some touch ups (to finish covering all scalp).
No issues, nice smooth shave. First use of a Hoffritz, I had seen some before on the fleabay, but they were too expensive.
This was OK in OK'ish user condition. Did some cleaning. This razor shaves close and smooth.

Face shave
Razor RR Wunderbar
Blade Gillette Plat#2
Soap: Caties Bubbles AZURE
Brush: RR synthetic
Art of Shaving balm

I had read so much about the Wunderbar but it was always sold out. Got some sueperslants and then one day the Wunderbar showed up again in stock.... Glad I pulled the trigger, I think it's my best slant.

3 pass shave, close and smooth.

I think so far I haven't tried this one for head shaves....maybe another day.....

I'm in whether or not the usual suspects dive in the pool. Thanks for the wake up call, @Iridian !!

No shave on Slantember 1.
Slantember 2:

(cribbed from the Superslant thread)

RazoRock Superslant L3++OC
Nacet (1)
Jikoryen stick
big Zenith boar

Nacet loaded easily, shave went fast. Two pass and touch up. My cheeks and jawline were glassy smooth after the two passes, no surprise with a Nacet in this razor. I did touch up my neck maelstroms, but did not chase the baby.

Felt great to get the stubble off. No irritation, no blood, no balm or AS, just a fast, effective shave 90 minutes before bedtime.

Head shave
Merkur G37
Gillette Plat #3
Soap: Fitjar (good stuff, lost its aroma since I placed it in a bowl and open to air for a year +, I'm OK w no smell)
Brush RR orange
AS: Tuff

Another good shave w this razor, I think I have used this one the most in the past 11m. Well maybe a tie w the Wunderbar and Lupo DC?
Close, smooth and minimal irritation.

One for previous face and now this G37 head.

Slantember 3
RazoRock Superslant L3++OC / Nacet (2)
Jikoryen stick / big Zenith boar
Osage Rub

I am on assignment to use the L3++OC at least three days running.

Prep with triple lather/rinse using mentholated, old formula Col. Conk Lime.

Nacet in place, again a quick two pass and touch up. My cheeks and jawline were perfectly smooth after minor touch up in a couple small areas. I touched up my multi-directional neck maelstroms in the usual way.

This shave had to wait until the end of a long family dinner. It's bedtime! No drama. I splashed some Osage Rub to check for any undetected scrapes or irritation. All clear.

Unlike the Wunderbar or a Merkur slant, I don't take extra care over my adam's apple or in the odd nooks and crannies. If I get the shave angle wrong I pay with a second stroke or moment of touch up later, not with a nick or scratch.

I use this L3++OC plate with the same attitude and at the same pace as any of my Superslant plates.

Hi,

I'm always In. I use a Slant every day. Over the years, I have has several slant models, and the one I settled on is the Fasan DoubleSlant.

I have two. One with the plastic top cap and one with the metal top cap. Does that mean I am in twice?

I have changed the handles, though.

I have had the plastic top cap one since 2013 and the metal top cap one since 2014.
